Just an idea, wouldn't a list of Members of Parliament who smoke be a more productive avenue. For two reasons:

1) They might be a bit short of cash at the moment!!!

2) More importantly, if it is your local MP you can visit him / her at the constituency surgery and lobby them.

Off hand I believe Charles Kennedy is a smoker - didn't he get arrested for smoking on a train?

I know but Stephen Fry is a gadget guru, articulate, credible and apparently used to smoke so might have some sympathy for people wanting an alternative. I like him too so I'm biased ;)

I've written to Gok Wan's agent and asked for a message to be passed on and also Hugh Laurie's agent.

Pillbox/Jason might be able to pass a message on to June Brown for us, I've asked him.

I don't know if anyone else is interested in contacting influential people but if you are, this is what I wrote:

Hi

please could you help me to contact Gok Wan. I am hoping to convert him to the personal vaporiser/electronic cigarette and might be able to have a free kit sent to him if he's interested.

I quit smoking about ten months ago with the help of electronic cigarettes and think they're the best thing since sliced bread.

They are a new technology from China that simulates the act of smoking and can deliver nicotine in a way that doesn't involve combustion, known carcinogens or tar.

There are few studies about vaping ('smoking' electronic cigarettes) so vested interests can't make claims about health or effectiveness but anecdotal evidence suggests that it's much better for quitting and cutting down on smoking tobacco than approved nicotine replacement products.

If you'd like to know more about this technology which could potentially save billions of lives then these forums are great sources of information and activism to keep the practice legal:

Right To Vape - Index

The vaping community is new and enthusiastic so please excuse evangelism, we are just keen for other smokers to be able to benefit as we have.

It would be fantastic if Gok could spare a few minutes to consider the value of an effective smoking replacement and the need to work towards proving health and cessation effectiveness. We need all the support we can get as authorities are clamping down worldwide on vaping with the rationale that it's not proven effective and safe. In fact it has not been proven unsafe either but smoking has for sure.

If Gok would like to support/endorse vaping that would be a great help. Right to Vape is getting organised as a grassroots, community run, voluntary organisation and we need patrons.

I can be contacted at **********.

Thanks very much for your time
