Andria, I just visited your site and it was very helpful particularly about the strength of nicotine and the side effects if it is too strong. I hadn't noticed that in the forum at least the places I had been. Admittedly I haven't been everywhere on the forum. Thanks for a lovely website and sharing your experiences with us. Also the experiences you had with your "first e-cig" I will stay away from those as you have very plainly stated why we might not like them and their drawbacks. Very clear and precise information so thank you. I would recommend your site for all newbies who are considering going to vaping and not knowing anything like me!! You kept it plain and simple in laymans terms and you pointed out about the terminology can be very confusing.........do I hear an Amen!

It plenty of logic fallacies. I'm tired to debunk them all again, let's look at the first one:

"For instance, a National Institute on Drug Abuse survey showed that nearly 9 percent of 8th graders, 16 percent of 10th graders and 17 percent of 12th graders had used e-cigarettes during the previous month."

Yes, kids explore things. I've heard them of doing {other stuff} too. How many e-cigs did they actually "use" during the past month? 1 passed around in the washrooms? 10? 100? or more? did they continue to "use" them the next month? How many? Did they get addicted? Did they smoke tobacco cigarettes too? How many? Other stuff? Which one? The study won't say.

No doubt about it! I've spent wayyyyyyy too much on vaping now, to ever go back! And though it peeves me that I had the month-long interruption of my smoke-free time after my appendectomy, it taught me something really important: I don't like smoking anymore! It really sucks! These things really are miraculous, so MANY of us long-term, die-hard, never-gonna-quit-and-kiss-my-grits smokers... now smoke-free and happily vaping. I was already a techie nerd, but this is the best technology EVAH.

I appreciate that. I just remembered how confusing I found it all, when I first got here last January -- if not for the New Members Forum, I wouldn't have had the first clue where to start!

Your comment also serves as the kick in the pants I desperately need, to get back to the site, and write some more. *sigh* I swear, writing is like giving birth. I had planned on my next article being some kind of follow-up to the Getting Started phase, probably going on at some length about the iTaste vv3 and other variable mods; I started with the vv3 after the eRoll, and now have 3 of them, which I still use constantly, they're terrific. And then on to variable mods with removable batteries... I need to be 10 people! But to be honest, I'm thinking more seriously about some DIY articles; a lot of folks get into this not only to save their lives, but also money, and making your own ejuice is the BEST way to do that; it also tastes better, once you kinda get the hang of it, since you can customize it to your own taste -- that's priceless!

I posted previous about your website very nice job. What do you mean by spending wayyyyyyy to much? You only referred to the kits costing 44.00 and 40.00. And the e-juice some sites you use. I would like to keep the cost reasonable. Is it more than smoking analogs?

weebitty I'm glad you're questioning things and trying to get the knowledge for yourself. You've definitely come to the right place for that.

This has to be my favorite part:
"This is debatable, however, as is their usefulness to quit smoking. A study published in late 2014 showed that smokers who used e-cigarettes daily were more likely to quit tobacco, but those who used them intermittently were six times less likely to quit smoking tobacco in the following year."

So, those who stopped smoking and switched to vaping, were more likely to quit smoking than those who didn't stop smoking and switch to vaping, thanks Captain Obvious!

Not even close... but when your "vape family" looks like this:

that's a hell of an investment! Plus about 30-40 flavors for DIY ejuice, the PG and VG and nicotine, and all the assorted tools, wire, cotton, a 3" vise to hold the head I'm rebuilding so I don't have to chase it around the countertop to mount a coil, and all the ejuice and cartos... no WAY will I waste all that, by ever going back to smoking.

And, my husband would have to give up his coin collecting hobby AGAIN -- he had to lay off it, when the economy got so bad, so when I quit smoking, I figured he ought to get some benefit from it too, aside from a wife who DOESN'T reek like an ashtray or choke him to death in the truck. :D

well you are doing a lot more maintenance than I want to do what would you recommend? Something that is simple but good and I would be very interested in your article (when you get around to it LOL) on making your own e-juice. I really don't understand the difference between PG and VG one is vegtable and the other a chemical? anyway looking forward to your writing more. thanks for your replies.

Well, it's just kinda the way I do anything I get interested in -- I was that way with gardening, when I first got into that about 15 yrs ago. I used to watch that show House, and he said something so profound, I've never forgotten it: "I'm an addict. I have to find something to do that I can turn up to 11 and not destroy my brain." That's me, to a T.

I can't really make any recommendations as to tanks; the technology changes on a weekly basis, and I've been into the Kayfuns and cartotank for so long now, the 'starter' tanks I used are now considered "old tech" -- Kanger T3S, Mini Protank II. I learned early on that I MASSIVELY prefer single coil to dual-coil, and all the new ones seem to be some version of dual-coil, in which I have zero interest. Those "old" Kanger tanks -- T3S and Mini Protank II -- are still sold, and they're pretty cheap now; they were very good when I first started out, but they have their limitations -- which can't really be overcome until you get enough familiarity and experience to start learning the rebuilding thing, and then move on to tanks like the Kayfun -- a peerless vape. I do recommend cartos and cartotanks for new folks; they're easy to use and maintain, and provide an excellent vape, particularly for those just switching from smoking who enjoy a tighter draw; I suppose the "massive airflow" is an acquired taste -- I haven't yet acquired it, that's for sure, and may never; I want to feel some resistance when I take a draw, or otherwise I just feel like a kid play-smoking with an empty straw -- or going back to those empty straws as a sort of placebo when trying the patch -- didn't work. :D

For ease of maintenance in a PV, I'd recommend either the iTaste vv/vw v3 or v4 (the v4s are new and still kinda pricey though), or the iTaste MVP2, if you can wrap your mind around a box mod -- I haven't yet, but I hear those are great. I'm still thrilled with my vv3s, and my stainless one was my very first "real" mod -- I'm using it right now in fact, with a carto. the great thing about those is no removable batteries, you just plug a micro-USB cable in it and the other end into a USB port on an AC wall-wart, and charge that way; the vv3s don't have long battery life, just 800mAh, but they can be used in "pass-thru" mode, you can still vape even when they're plugged in to charge -- same for the MVP2, but it's 2600mAh, so it wouldn't often be necessary. 2600mAh will last a whole day and then some; my removable batteries are 2000 and 2250, and those last a full day. With the vv3s, the short battery life is why I got more than one; although you can vape while they're charging, it takes them a long time to charge if you do.

VG and PG are both organic chemicals, with very similar properties -- they make visible vapor, and they're both safe as a 'carrier' for other things; PG is used as a carrier in asthma inhalers and nebulizers, and has been used in that capacity for upwards of 40 yrs. It's used in hospital-wide ventilation systems, to purify the air, as it has strong anti-microbial properties. VG is in a GREAT many foods, beverages, and personal care products; it binds, it thickens, it sweetens, and it even makes excellent soap. :D In short, there is no particular serious hazard to either one, though each has its drawbacks -- I have asthma, and I find VG much too thick to use more than 15%-20% in my ejuice. PG can be quite irritating; I found it very irritating to my throat and sinuses when I vaped 90% PG for several days in a row, and some people react that way to it at much lower levels -- everyone is different, and there seems far more difference in how people react to the basically-inert PG and VG, than to the nicotine.
