And at the risk of starting a squabble, is 'dr' Siegel actually a medical doctor? Because the information I'm pulling up on him shows Michael Siegel, with a doctorate in social/behvairoal sciences and he's on the boston public health board.

That sounds really cool and all, but that doesnt mean he's a medical doctor.

In viewing the article to digg it, I came across a new CDC ad campaign. I wonder if this is for real...It is showing the ads on something called "Today Now", Onion News Network. OMG it is disgusting and almost pornographic! I really can't believe this is from the CDC, but if it is, we, as a society, are in deep trouble. It not only promotes hate for smokers, it also promotes hate for homosexuals! It is disturbing to say the least.

Here is the link

New Anti-Smoking Ads Warn Teens 'It's Gay To Smoke' | The Onion - America's Finest News Source

I know we are not advocating smoking nor are we a spokesperson for homosexual rights, but this sure shows the hate we, as vapors, are facing!

From his blog profile:
I am a physician who specialized in preventive medicine and public health. I am now a professor in the Social and Behavioral Sciences Department, Boston University School of Public Health. I have 20 years of experience in tobacco control, primarily as a researcher. My areas of research interest include the health effects of secondhand smoke, policy aspects of regulating smoking in public places, effects of cigarette marketing on youth smoking behavior, and the evaluation of tobacco control program and policy interventions.

Bold emphasis mine.

OMG what are theses idiots thinking?
I can't believe these adds are really out there. I watched them all and can't wait for the reprocussions that are bound to start. What were/are they thinking?
So I guess when I vape in public with something that doesn't look like a real analog I won't be gay? NICE!

Oh, I'm glad I saw the post saying these were a joke!

In the new age of the internet the government still believe they can keep people ignorant, what a joke. With the sheer power of the net governments can be made or over throne, they should start to watch the toes they are standing on.

Even with the internet, people are still ignorant. Look at ecigs for instance, People do not check on the fda tests to see that only 1 cartridge was shown to have trace amounts oF DEG. They accept what is told to them by any one of a million sites out there that is feeding half truths.

People have the attention span of a gnat, whether it be in real life or on the internet. People are amused by big lights and shiny things. If you want your 'truth' to be the accepted one, whether it be here or irl, then you just need to have bigger lights and more shiney objects to grab the average person's attention.

What you say is true, however as a society, we are as a whole becoming less resistant to propaganda no thanks to the internet, lets just hope that more of us are starting to see the bigger picture, never before has society been able to communicate in such effective ways, the internet has given the power back to the people.

That would require people to change. Humans dont change until they are made uncomfortable. As long as people have cable tv, ac and american idol to placate them, everything is sporty.

Start taking tangible things away from them and THEN you will get a response. But if you want one before that, you will need to fan the flames to get that response.
