That would require people to change. Humans dont change until they are made uncomfortable. As long as people have cable tv, ac and american idol to placate them, everything is sporty.

Start taking tangible things away from them and THEN you will get a response. But if you want one before that, you will need to fan the flames to get that response.
Yep - something you learn in Sales 101 - WIIFM? (What's In It For Me?) - and that people are more motivated by the threat of loss vs. the promise of gain.

First off dang that link is an amazing compilation of articles... now to the main subject.

As is stated within the article anti smoking groups often have theological or as I like to consider it "cultish" mannerisms. Now don't confused what I mean by this I am not saying ASH will be passing out "kool aid" or that they worship someone called "The Leader" I am saying that the majority of them have a belief system based upon personal stigmas. Religious groups are often confronted with scientific evidence that goes against their faith, what is their response? Stubborn as a mule they come up with a reason to say the evidence is fake and then attempt to discredit the finder of said evidences. If the founder of said evidences in not discredited then it may very well tamper with the faith of the zealots, in our case the anti smoking zealots.

"It is very easy to make people believe something they are scared is true or something they want to be true." - Quoted from a fantasy novel, but is point of psychology I agree with.

I feel sorry for Dr. Siegel he is a professional who made a statement conveying his professional opinion but because his opinion goes against what many people want to believe he is being ridiculed both professionally and on some levels personally. Sad to see...

You know, i'm going to start doing this too when I write, use their own tactics against them. For Example:

"ASH, the drug company funded anti smoking group, said today"

"John Banzhaf, a well known attorney and drug company funded social activist, was quoted today as saying"

"The FDA today said they want to approve E-cigs as safe, so that it can carry the same warnings regarding life threatening side effects as other drugs like Chantix"

"As he sipped on his water, a component of Anti Freeze, FDA spokeman so and so informed us that..."

Spin it baby!
