Here is a priceless comment from Dr. Siegel's blog,
Dr. Siegel,

Are you a paid gun for Big tobacco Companies? Your support for e-cigarettes is suspect.

I draw your attention to the PRNewswire release:
“Ruyan America’s Electronic Smoking Substitutes Win Two Awards at 2008 tobacco Plus Expo Held in Las Vegas”

Let us imagine why would the tobacco Industry bestow two (2) awards on a product that would decrease their profits and possibly bankrupt them?
Hmmm, because they care so much about the health of smokers? I think not.
GET REAL- Big Tabacco knows e-cigs will lead to an increased use of tobacco products.

Dr. Siegel; you consider yourself a smart man so what is your motivation to support e-cigs?

I lost both parents to smoking related diseases and my siblings who never smoked have asthma and lung-related health concerns.

I do not and will not support the use of tobacco products. I support the use of pharma nicotine in conjunction with professional medical oversight. Yes, I would support nicotine inhalers provided research to substantiate their effectiveness is established.

My argument is neither convoluted nor pathetic; it is based on:
1) Science- nicotine is addicting. An addict will do almost anything to get their fix be alcohol, ......., nicotine etc...Lives are ruined.
2) Science- tobacco be it smoked or inhaled is harmful and often deadly.
3) E-cigs- there is no research to support or deny their effect on the human body.
4) E-cigs- there are no guidelines to establish the QUANTITY or QUALITY of nicotine a user is in taking.
5) Corporations- simple profit and loss- tobacco companies are NOT going to support a product that reduces their revenue. Plain and simple common sense.
6) The axe I grind- yes the direct negative affect tobacco has had on me and my family.
7) The axe I grind- health care costs rise because of smoking related diseases.
The axe I grind- hidden cost to non-smokers through taxation. It cost money to administer tax programs aimed at tobacco.
9) The axe I grind- selfish parents who impose their health hazard on children too young to walk away.

Shall I go on?

Wait one more….

10) Have you noticed how many health agencies countries do not support or ban e-cigs?

Now shall I go on?
