Questions for any drippers who like removing the atomizer bridge so much that they do it with all their atomizers, even their new ones that have never been used before...

I keep hearing people say the flavor of the juice is even better without the bridge.
This I can believe, but is it true?

And I also hear people say it doesn't hold as many drops without the bridge.
This I can believe, but is it true?

And I keep hearing people say it is impossible to flood the atomizer without the bridge.
This I find hard to believe, since extra juice doesn't magically disappear.
But is it true?

And I keep hearing people say they don't get that burnt taste when running dry.
I can see where this might make sense.
But is it true?

And if so, what DOES it taste like when running dry?

I always remove the bridge. I didn't notice a drastic difference but it does perform better without it. The thing I like best about no bridge is that when you drip, the liquid immediately goes right where it needs to be. So the vapor and taste is always at a ten. No waiting for the juice to run down off of the bridge onto the element.

I generally never get a burnt taste when I'm running low. But I'm pretty good at knowing when it's time to drip again. Yes, you can still flood the atty. I don't think the bridge has much to do with flooding or not.

When I'm low, I drip 3 drops and I'm good to go.

There have been times when I've gotten a little lazy with a new atty and left the bridge in. It's definitely not as good. It's not easy to explain but I won't leave it in again.

I have gotten lazy and now I just remove the bridge after it starts to taste funky.

I switched to 5 volts and it doesn't seem to make as much of a difference now.

when I was just using a standard 510 I could tell the difference, I got a warmer more consistant hit.

So now I only remove them when I have dripped too many odd ball flavors and I can't get the taste out. I think that's why I'm just about done trying new flavors.

Down with dark colored liquids, go with as clear as possible!!!

Maybe it's just me, but I can't seem to keep any liquid in my bridgeless attys. No matter many drops 1,2,3, or more, the liquid always seems to find it's way out of the atty. When mine gets low on liquid it tastes like nasty burning plastic and it burns the crap out of my throat. I've given up on removing bridges for now.

Sorry if this has been explained before, but I am at work and really don't have time to search all the threads and post. I have a Riva and reg 510 atty's and some mega atty's (not the real huge ones just reg mega atty's) How do you remove the bridge? I wanna use one to test DIY flavors cuz it's a pain to clean them to chanfge flavors when mixing.

I did that trick removing the bridge but i always get leakage. if you look at the coil real close, theres a hole in the center of that ceramic cup that sits the coil. after i drip i think its all going down that hole and out the bottom. its only worked right a few times for me with great vapor and TH but then all guzzles out the bottom. ive been using a 50%pg/50%vg juice, maybe most people use more vg for thickness? or am i just doing something else wrong? ive only done it with 510 attys by the way, regular and LR.

I can see where this might make sense.

To answer your questions:

1. Yes, the flavor of the juice is better. And its also very consistent.

2. No, it will not hold as much juice without the wire mesh and wick. 3 drops right on the coil and I get at least 10 nice puffs. Sufficient for me..also it helps me to keep control of my vaping. If I have to re-drip twice per "smoke" I'm vaping too much and I back off.

3. Yes, you can definitely still flood your atomizer without the bridge. Its actually much easier to flood it with the bridge removed.

4. Yes, the burnt taste goes away. I think its the wick they use that actually burns and gives you that nasty taste. And its definitely not something you want to inhale btw.

5. When its running dry you'll notice a big change in flavor. It doesn't taste nasty it just tastes a little less...full? I still get a nice plume of smoke on that puff before I re-drip..its just noticeably different. You'll see..

Id just be careful to get all the loose little pieces of metal out..otherwise you're going to get them in your mouth (if you use a drip tip)...trust me lol. Its gross and you dont want that stuff in your mouth.

Like someone else said, the juice will run out of the hole on the bottom of the atty so I always make sure to clean the atty side of the battery with a napkin or undershirt or something real quick to get the juice out twice a day or so. You dont want that stuff drying in there and gumming things up.

Also something someone else mentioned was the color of the juice. I stay away from sweet juices because they seem to gum up attys in a hurry. The light colored juices are best to use, IMHO. Ive had the best luck with the Marlboros and the Camels.

And finally, something I have posted several times on here. I strongly recommend the drip tip. If you're gonna drip its really the only way to do it I think. It makes life so much easier. Hope this info is helpful!!

Anybody else want to chime in with their experience?

My main question is about what it tastes like when the atomizer is running dry and all the bridge and wicking material have been removed. So far I've got one answer, which I appreciate, but I am really trying to get a lot of opinions.

If you've removed the bridge, are you getting that burnt plastic taste anymore?
If not, what DOES it taste like when the atomizer is out of juice?

I'm going to use the answers to open a new thread and start a very different discussion.

Thanks!

I just started a few days ago doing this bridge-less thing on a 510. I likey. To me, and that's all I can speak for, it lets the flavor do what it does without interference. When it's dry, I know it immediately, before it's too late. No guess work. 3 drips and I'm off. I seem to get more puffs than most say, but maybe I'm not drawing as hard as others. Either way, I like the idea. I use a drip tip and during a regular work day I re-drip about 5 times (give or take). I was a pack a day Camel Wide smoker.

*edit*: When it's running low on juice, the vapor gets warmer, that's sign one. Then the taste goes away, that's sign 2. By sign 2 I check the atty, if I can see it glow red, it's time to drip. No burnt taste unless I keep trying to vape beyond sign 3.
Otherwise it's just a basic taste of hot coil with no flavor, I would not call it burnt, but just on the cusp.

In terms of ease of modification, it was not as bad as I thought. The video really tells it like is and helped out alot. I would, however, have a spare atty just in case.

with the wicking and bridge removed and my few drops run out, i get a burn your throat harsh nasty taste. i wouldnt say burnt plastic, maybe some other burning substance. anyway its definitly smoke, a hazy blue smoke i blow out ofter this happens and it looks almost like cigarette smoke and lingers the same. im thinking maybe its the dry flavor sugars burning off at that point from old dry juice buildup on the atty. its definitly not vapor.

The best way to describe it is a hot metallic taste.
