I have a pretty good grasp on the cartomizers and how they work with kr808 and 510 batts. But I'm a little unclear on dripping. People say it produces more vapor and better flavor for most juices. What are some popular PVs used for dripping.

And also, with the Ego-T, there's no filler just a tank. Does the flavor on this get closer to those that "drip" compared to cartomizers?

Thanks for all the help! This forum has been great for newbies.

Any PV can be used for dripping provided it uses a manual battery. Automatics have a hole for the sensor that can get liquid inside and short the battery if not careful.

Dripping is generally sought after for flavor because there's nothing in between the liquid and the atty, you're dripping directly on it through a drip tip but that's not feasible at times because you have to drip again after a few draws.

Some cartos produce very good flavor, will it be the same as dripping...probably not but many can get close and the convenience factor more than makes up for it for many people.

Haven't tried tanks and most things I've read say the flavor is subdued with them but the newer LR tanks are supposed to be much better in that regard.

Dripping can be done on almost any PV type.

If you have KR808D-1 batteries, then use a 901 atomizer, or pull the poly-fill out of a cartomizer.

Of course there are many variations of 510 threaded atomizers.

The other odd platforms usually have a native dripping/cartridge atomizer of some sort.

For a 510 it works something like this:
Drip about 5 drops on the bridge (little metal screen over the coils). Give it two quick burns without drawing air, then add 2 or 3 more drops. Now you have the option of vaping that load out (about like having a tobacco ciggy break), or you can add a drop every now and then to keep the screen wet for continuious vaping.

Yes, this approach is more true to the juice flavorful than a cartridge or cartomizer. The main reason it is more flavorful is that the coil is truly wet. Where with any system that uses polyfill or wicks...it has to be able to feed juice to the coils and keep them wet, and so far there just aren't any options that can soak up and feed the juice that quickly; hence, less vapor and less flavor.

I never was able to get the Ego-T to perform very well, but others have come to swear by them.

The closest to direct dripping I have found using a Cartomizer are the CE2 and Vortex designs.
They use silica wicks suspended in a tank of fluid to keep the atomizer coils wet. They do their job fairly well out of the box, and very well with some minor modding.

These work very well in my opinion, but so far, every wick based carto I have ever tried does require some tweaking for optimal performance with various juices. No two juices are exactly the same in viscosity...where one will leak through the tineiest crack, another might be so thick that it just clings to a wick or gets caught in the spaces around the wick designed to prevent carto leakage.

Awesome guys, thanks for the tips. Looks I'll be trying out the CE2s or Vortex next!

Some things with the CE2 to be aware of.
If you want a rugged PV that can take abuse...go with the Metal CE2.
If you like really strong Cinnamon/Apple flavors...go with the metal CE2.

The clear tubes don't last as long. On the other hand, they make it easy/fast to pull the Carto apart for cleaning or changing flavors. If you do get clear, grab some 3ml BD Syringes from Walmart's pharmacy to replace the tubes with.

Also, you can build nice tanks around the CE2 for a song and a dance :)

I like to just replace my cartomizers until I found a liquid that I liked. Now when I finnish a cartomizer, I just refill it with one of the liquids I like. I pay $1.60 per cartomizer and fill it a few times before disposing it. I have not counted how many times I can refill them yet tho. How many times can a kr808d cart be refilled?

Mileage varies. The poly-filled type cartomizers: KR808D-1 atty coils tend to be pretty tough and hard to 'burn out'. The polyfill in them can start to develop bad taste over time...and for me that usually happens well before the coil blows.

So...depending on the juice and how the polyfill holds up with it...it's possible to get weeks or even months out of a carto. I figure average for most folks is probably 4 to 10 fills.

Some people bother to clean them and such to extend their life much more. Quite a few threads on the methods people use to revive old cartos.

A metal CE2 type carto can last a really long time. I'm roataing 8 right now that have been in service and working like champs for over a month now. Some of the clear ones I have replaced the tubes with BD Syringe tubes...but the coils and wicks are still going strong.
