I have an off-topic question, if you guys don't mind. I mostly vape on power mode in my DNA mod but I cannot find "Kanthal" listed under the wire type in EScribe, so I usually choose Ni200. Does it make any difference at all?
Don't run kantal in anything but wattage mode. Ni200 is for nickel. I have no idea if it's safe to run kantal in another mode other than wattage. I always just use wattage for it.

How many times would be considered ok? Until the coil literally disintegrates? Four? This is regarding kanthal coils. Not Ni200 or titanium. Just curious what other people are doing.

When I 1st got into rebuilding, I used to Dry Burn coils when they got Gunked up. Dry Burning helped, but it Didn't bring a coil all the way back. Maybe to 85% Performance.

And every Dry Burn I did afterwards would kind do the same thing. So after 3 or 4 Dry Burns, the Coil would be Clean, but the Performance had kinda Dropped Off.

I don't Dry Burn much anymore. Because I found that I could buy Pre-Coiled Coils for next to Nothing.

$3.26 Pre-Coiled Wires for Rebuildable Atomizers (100-Pack) - 29 AWG / 0.3mm dia. / 1.1ohm / 12*12mm leads / 5 loops at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

$2.20 Authentic MKWS 316 Stainless Steel Pre-Coiled Wires for RBA Atomizers (50-Pack) - 26 AWG / 0.4mm dia. / 0.32ohm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

So I just Replace the Coil with a New One when it get Gunked Up.

I vape NETs and to maintain optimal flavor I re-wick/dry burn daily which for me is every 10 ml of juice. My coils are made with 26ga Kanthal (TEMCo) and are dry burned at least 15 - 20 times before changing them out. They still read the same resistance and look fine but flavor intensity seems to drop over time and once I perceive -any- loss of flavor I re-build. I bought my wire in bulk while on-sale so my coils cost around one penny each. Even though they cost almost nothing to make I see no valid reason to change them until flavor begins to taper off.

until the resistance is affected
^^ This. I've got some Kanthal coils still installed in atomizers that I've been using for months. The coil's still good, so there's no need to replace it. Pull the wick, dry burn it, rinse it off, good to go!

Just now I dry burned, cleaned and rewicked two sets of 316L SS dual Claptons I installed the beginning of November last year. They taste absolutely fine. Resistance is unchanged, and while they might not have the "healthy" clean look of a brand new wire, they still come out looking way better after cleaning. I'll replace them when that no longer happens.

Oh, these are ADV tanks, vaping DIY juice with a tiny amount of sweetener, and cleaned/rewicked roughly every 10 days (according to my spreadsheet;))

I've run them into the ground a few times at first. What I found will eventually happen is the wire degrades to the point that it becomes brittle and the coil will break when rewicking. And then when you replace the coil you realize how much better the vape is with the new one.

I'm not sure how many dry burns I do before replacing the wire because I'm typically rotating through about 4 atties. Best estimate now that I think about it is around 10.

I've got a three month old kanthal coil in my KF4 that's still going strong. It's been dry burned about ten times, still looks like new too!

Evolv's boards auto-detect if there is a temp sensing coil attached so it's fine. You can upload Steam engine's kanthal csv file if it keeps going into tc.

^This.
26ga temco Kanthal, I dry burn, rinse, rewick once a week or so (I run a few mods at a time, rotating throughout the day). I rebuild some times every month (because I feel like building) or sometimes I'll go a few months if the coils still look decent after a dry burn/rince. I don't really watch my resistance too closely. I've gone past where the coils where coming out clean before, and it just starts to taste bad, so I stopped doing that :)

Vaping DIY - mostly lighter liquids with no added sweeter - vanilla caramel butterscotch custard, vanilla caramel tobacco absolute ry4, andies mint (3 different juices, not all mixed together.. eww lol) andies is darker and has some sweeter, all high VG.

Funny. My DIY sounds a lot like yours. I guess these juices aren't big gunkers of coils as they always clean up well. I just check the resistance and the posts screws when rewicking as stuff can work a bit loose, but never had an issue.

Ahh - yeah i check connections before wicking (try to tighten them a bit), and i'll check resistance to make sure its not way off, but i'm not tracking my resistance from when the coil was new or anything. That's all I meant :)
