Dry hits and spitback no matter what I do

If I have a spit or a burn, I look for one of two problems. One, a hot spot and for those I generally just bite the bullet and start over. Some times "strumming" the coil with a very small screwdriver fixes the problem. For spits, I know that my wick does not have good contact with the coil. Most often this is one of the two end wraps. I shove a little more stuff in there and that usually fixes that.

Spitting will be from too little wicking through the coils.

Dry hits will be from your tails of your wicks, too much and or too long.

Best option is to start with a single coil rba, as it makes things much easier.
