At first I had realized that it was because my screws would get loose and cause a horrible dry hit and the ohms to jump from .2 to .3, but now after like 1 or 2 long back to back hits, I start getting that horrible dry hit but the screws are still tight, the ohms are the same/steady and there's plenty of juice left on the wick. Even sometimes I think it doesn't matter if it's back to back hits, as long as I take a long lung inhale its dry/ish on the next hit. Is it just the nature of the heat with fused claptons at somewhat high wattages? (24n80/34n80 single coil and also same problem on my 26n80/36n80 dual fused Claptons both 80-90 watts)

There are a few issues that could be causing this:

1) You could be getting hot spots in the coil. Remove the wick and fire to check for uneven glowing.
2) Your wicking is either too tight to too loose. At those high wattages you will want your wicking to be perfect.
3) You may have a short occurring somewhere.
4) Your long lung hits may just be exhausting all of the juice in your well, although your wick does look saturated.

I've tried these fancy coils and I always find myself going right back to a normal dual coil build. Why? It works. I've never had any problems, the flavor is great, and I can rebuild and rework in under 5 minutes if necessary.

Thanks man, I thought it might be glowing uneven too so I pulled the wick out and checked, seemed fine. I'm thinking your probably rite on the money with the wicking maybe being the issue, it would make the most sense,. I'll have to try looser wicking as I got it real tight already.

Yeah I feel you, I just started trying fused claptons but I'm about to go back to a simple twisted/triple twisted build, or maybe even a macro if that becomes problematic.

Sounds like you need a larger coil ID, What wick material are you using?
Using Japanese cotton.
Per the pic, if he goes larger ID he will be shorting out on the wall of his atty [emoji14]
Yep you got it, definitely can't go any bigger without doing a vertical build, already had to give it a pretty mean tilt to keep the top cap clearance lol

Are you a current active duty jar head? [emoji14]
No sir, I'm actually not in the military at all unfortunately (the Marines were always a dream/goal of mine crushed by having only one kidney to enlist) just a nick name people called me growing up, partly from my name being jared and other from being raised with military values in a military fam. I mean no disrespect or stolen valor from the name; maybe i should change it, may be too misleading :/

Don't change it....... Jarhead is a perfectly valid handle for someone name Jared.
There is a difference between using a Military reference to honor the military and using the name to honor yourself.. One of these circumstances used to be encouraged. Funny how it perfectly OK for me to wear the uniform of any sports team, to honor them. Yet you wear a fatigue jacket to honor the military, you are accused of stolen valor. Seams to me we have our priorities backwards.

Very good point, much appreciated.

Semper fi to all the Devil dogs in this thread. Much respect and thank you all for your service. I also come from a long line of Marines. My father was an E5 during the Korean war, came out of camp Lejeune. My story is much different and in the words of Forest Gump. That's all I have to say about that. :D The early 90's were a blur for me but getting back to the problem of the fused claptons. it definitely looks as if those coils are too big for that atomizer and very well could be shorting on the walls of the cap. Go Vertical! Oooo Rah.

Yes much respect and gratitude to anyone in the armed forces, you fight so I can vape away in freedom and for that I am eternally grateful.

But yeah I'm gonna have to try vertical, might be my problem. Although the ohms still stay at a steady at .2, is it possible that I could still be shorting out without a change in resistance?

There's nothing wrong with wearing a fatigue jacket, or even parts of a uniform....camo pants, top, etc.... It's when someone wears the whole uniform, ribbons and medals posing as something they aren't :p

I find no issue with the forum name, I just assumed he is or was in :p

No, if you had a short, your resistance would drop dramatically. Somewhere around .01 :p
