I'm trying this for the first time (where you smoke with just the default mouth piece with no cartridge) and i find i get TONS of smoke. i've smoked about 5 cigarettes worth like this already, and it's still going strong with smoke.

My question is, is this good for it? is it like a cleaning method? to get rid of all the extra liquid sitting on the atomizer?

The reason i did this was because after i smoked some chocolate liquid, i found that even a fresh njoy cartridge still tasted more like that chocolate liquid then the apple cartridge its supposed to taste like. so I kinda wanted to smoke it without a cartridge to get rid of that chocolate liquid that i guess dripped onto the atomizer from the cartridge. I wasnt aware how much liquid actually gets stuck on there, but i'm getting so much smoke outa this.

I've been wondering about this too. Some people have said that dry smoking with e-cig's liquid has damaged atomizers.
I've been only dripping for maybe a cig at a time, every once in a while.
The way I figure it... Is if you drip smoke all the time, any residue in the liquid is going to be burnt into the atomizer. It will accumulate after a while and gum it up. e-liquid is clean, but it can't be that clean.

But if you only do this once in a while, and mostly keep a cartridge in, the cartridge will help keep the atomizer clean. As well as keeping it wet, it will draw any residue away from it. I think this is why cartridges turn darker after being used for a while.

So I don't know for sure, but until I do I'm going to keep dripping to a minimum.

P.S. The dripping I do is usually for changing flavor or smoking an old flavor out of the e-cig.
Also to smoke out any extra liquid that dripped down into the atomizer like you're doing. So yeah I would say it's good once in a while to make sure there isn't too much excess liquid.

dry smoking is indeed what you are describing scoop (ur name reminds me of picking up dog poop for some reason...no pun intended of course)

dry smoking is good in between cartridges or if you feel the atomizer is overloaded and you need to clear/clean it out.

now, taking it 1 step further, if you take a drop of eliquid/bicks/VG, etc... and drip 2/3 straight on the atomizer, it seems to last for about 10-20 puffs or about the length of a real tobacco smoke. this is call dripping :)

lol it's a poker term. You scoop the chips, then stack them up. =)

What's the reason that people drip right onto the atomizer? for one, cant it ruin it? and 2, it voids warranty.. i've never done it and i've never had problems getting good vapor etc, so i dont understand why people would risk ruining their atomizer for this. why not just drip into the cartridge?

Vapour production, pure and simple. It billows.

And you get fatalistic about atomisers pretty quickly. It's never clear why they tank but they do. Some of us religiously separate them out from the batteries and drain them every night, others make sure their use is all according to Hoyle and still the little suckers perish. I'm sort of half and half - from here on in I intend to treat 'em like the jewels of paradise for a month or so and then subject 'em to every indignity to wring the last ounce of smoke out of 'em...

I'm still on my 1st atomizer and it seems to be working perfect still. I've had my Njoy almost 2 months. i guess i'm a lucky one! mark also sent me a backup, so once this dies i'm still good to go for a while. =)

I drip 99% of the time. If you don't overload it with e-liquid then it is the same as you smoking it between cartridges. I don't have to check for fibres and I always get great smoke from it. If I change flavours, then it is instant.

Like CaSHMeRe said 2 to 3 drops gives you 10-20 puffs which is how I determine 1 cigarette. I normally drip 2 drops and when the smoke is gone, I sometimes put down my e-cig, if not I drip 2 more drops.

After a while you will decide which way you prefer. I usually use a cartridge when I am driving. Haven't got the drip and drive down yet - LOL.
