Kind of new to vaping, and so far I'm quite impressed! I've started off with starter kits of the 901 and 510 and would like some clarification of a couple issues.

On the 901 I have to draw somewhat harder than the 510 to get it to work; the 510 is an almost effortless draw, closer to an analog cigarette (gotta love that term!). Also, when I draw on the 901, the hole in the atomizer makes a whistling noise which I find mildly annoying; by contrast the 510 is silent. So, I'm wondering if these things are simply characteristic of the 901, or could there be a problem such as a bad atomizer?

On the other hand, the 510 batteries seem to discharge much quicker than the 901 batteries. Again, is this just how it is, or might there be a problem here?

Thanks in advance to all the experienced vapers willing to give us rookies a helping hand!

Welcome to the forum :)
The whistle noise will go away on the 901 after a while...just remember that a slow. steady draw works best with e-cigs....I don't currently own a 501 so I can't give you the ins and outs of that particular model...but I've heard the learning curve is much better on them...as you noted, closer to an analog than the 901....in a nutshell, if the 901 is whisteling (sp) your draw strength is too high...slow and steady once the LED comes on.

You'll find that with a manual 901 battery, you won't have to suck as hard (to activate the switch in the automatic battery). Therefore, you can minimize some of the whistling sound you've been getting through your atomizer hole and you will find that it draws nearly as effortlessly as the 510 does. Basically, it will work identically to your 510 and produce the consistent draw everytime (which can be a problem for some automatic 901 batteries).

If you decide to go with a 901 manual battery you will either have to buy a special charger or the manual battery adapter. The button is very close to the atty connection and will not fit into the auto battery charger.Waiting for mine to be delivered from ruyan direct.I like my 901 with the auto, can't wait to try the manual.Any one know who has a 901 battery to 501 adapter in stock.Feel free to leave me a PM.

Solitary1, an easy work-around for recharging the manual 901's is to remove the button. It is just a rubber piece that effortlessly pops out of the tube. Once you do that, you'll see the tiny tac switch inside which the rubber boot pushes on. With the boot off, you have no problems charging the battery in your automatic 901 recharger.
