Hey guys,

Just received a set of dual coil cartomizers from Health Cabin today. First try and wow, the primer taste was awful. I tried blowing it out like i do with my other atty's and also did some empty vapes to try to burn off the primer. But after 1 hour, it's still there and even the smell of it is really strong.

Advice?

Uncle Screwtape is right.

I just pulled out a second carto and filled it up with a lot more drops of juice. This time, it was bliss! I only put in about 8 drops into the first carto, not enough , and i think it got fried. It wasn't the primer taste afterall.

Thanks Uncle.

Phew! You had me nervous there. I was getting paranoid that they may have started putting primer in cartos, although I'm not sure why they would. Keep 'er wet and Vape Groovily.

Thanks fellas for getting back to me.

I'm happily vaping my tastyvapor juice atm. Flavor is amazing.

Like afrazier5 said, let it sit for a while. I f'd up my first carto being a carto-noob.

All I can say is, moving from an ego-T to this,...i'd never go back. Flavor is like 6 x stronger, with nice warm vapor. I took out the rubber tip from the carto and installed my own metal drip tip for more flavor and vapor. Loving it.

Ohhh yeahhh! Moving from a tank to cartos would definitely be a big step up the flavour ladder. Especially dual coils. I went from an eGo-T, to direct dripping on a 306LR and I rarely go back, unless I'm laying in bed and trying to doze off with some midnight Blueberry. Are you using the tapered metal drip tip, or the Wide mouth ones?

Seaweedshark:

Wide mouth ones. But when I refilled, I took off the drip tip so I don't accidentally fill up the hole in the carto.

Just a question tho, when you go out with your PV, do you drip as you go? I put in about 30 drops into to this carto and it's starting to dry out already> I can taste that burnt atty taste. Doesn't last as long as using a tank for sure. What will i do when I'm outta the house?

If you have the extra long DC cartos they take about 60 to 65 drops on first fill.

Okay guys, the friggin' taste is back... arg. Tastes so bad.

I topped off my carto and a little started leaking out the battery end, and every vape produces a gurgling sound. Sometimes i get a nice hit of flavor, and other times, that really awful burnt taste.

Have I fried my carto's atty?

depends on the size of them and how much you vape, for me a dual coil clear cartomizer (smok tech brand) has lasted me a little more than half a day without feeling like I needed to put more liquid in but I'm .... retentive about having it filled. My mega ones lasted me a couple days. The biggest thing with cartomizers I've found is patience, filling them up and letting them soak it in. which is why I have multiples up and ready and soaking lol.

With a cartomizer, you don't want to even begin to get dry.

You want to drip into the FILLER (just the filler, not the center channel) until a drop or two comes out the battery end. What I do at this point is stand it up battery end on the bottom on a paper towel, and let it sit.... this lets the carto soak up the juice everywhere and also lets any excess drain onto the paper towel.

I top off my cartos every couple of hours with 5-8 drops, until I see a drop coming from the battery end... blow out excess liquid, continue to vape. The trick is to NEVER let it get dry. If any of the filler around the coil gets dry, it's going to BURN. Your best bet is to just keep it wet for the cartomizer's life. I keep mine wet ALL the time.. kind of OCD about it.. and I've never had a carto die on me or taste funny....I end up swapping it for a new one after two weeks or so and even then there's no real reason to do so besides flavor (and not because of a burnt taste, because after using a carto for two weeks flavor gets kind of funny)

I just ordered my very first set of Boge Cartomizers. I don't think they are dual coil but is it the same concept? I am also a carto newbie and any advice NOT to screw them up would be appreciated.

Yikes, sorry I am not trying to take over OP. I didn't notice that mechanicallighter was having problems again, I will make my own thread

Yea the boge and duals are the same concept. Make sure when dripping in that you tilt the carto at around 45 degrees and drip in a few drops. I do this but turn it about a quarter turn for each set of drops. I usually put in about 8-10 drops per hour until the top has a very wet slushy appearance.

Use a syringe and needle. It's faster and more effective for a first fill. When flavor droops off, then drip til it adheres to edge of filling and carto wall. If you watch the center hole, you'll soon be able to gauge saturation that way. Once a carto gets dry and burns, it can't be fixed( dual coils).
