So I'm a couple days in and have a couple questions.

I am filling them upside down, but do I have to unattach it from the battery to allow escaping air? If we are filling upside down to keep juice from leaking, there must be air leaking right???

Does anyone know what gage this needle is that comes with it? I need to get a longer one to reach the juice when my bottle is getting low and I don't want to use anything to fat. (Also I'd like to cap the needle.)

Any other tips?

Thanks

Yes, Free air escape is critical to a leak free Phoenix. No obstructions while the air bleeds out the Batt end is best.
20ga needles are the ticket, and can be found here, along with other usefull goodies..

21ga will work also, but you will find thicker VG juices a bear to draw up.

Jensen Global Inc - Needles

3" blunt will get to the bottom of most any size bottles....

Your right Bonny, I've done it successfully too, but....
One thing I have noticed, that will cause a mess in a hurry. If some juice is left over, and has thickened (which is usually the case when its nearing empty) and it has not had a chance to "drain" back torwards the mouthpiece when inverted to fill, it will cause it to enter the air tube and flood out all over the place when your filling up. When that happens, a simple "blowout" like a typical carto, will quickly clear it out...

Yeah I almost always vape mine dry, easy enough to do with these fellas. I've found that if there's still juice in there, I will hold it by the threaded end and flick it like a thermometer. It moves the juice back to the mouth end.

If I blow it out, I turn it upside down with the threaded end pointing upward cuz otherwise it's just blowing more juice through it. Flicking it to get the juice away from the wicks, of course.

Z-Snapper,

Thanks for the link to the needles, a big big help to us here at our place. I dug around on their site and they even have 5" blunts in 14ga., should be able to reach anything in the jugs we've got. 5 inch is $$$ though, but would save some messes.

Good info., thanks.

Alway's a pleasure to help out in time of need.....Keep in mind though, sticking anything larger than a 20ga in the Phoenix fill plug, may compromise the "self sealing" nature of these little Jewels, and cause them to leak...If this happens by mistake, GV does sell replacement plugs...(Thank God)

They actually come with 21 gauge needles but a 20 gauge will work. I just ordered a box if 50 2" needles online for $10

Geez, I'm gonna have to go shopping. I'm having a hard time getting the juice at the very bottom when my bottles get low. I can't stand leaving even a drop in there if I can help it. I have a long 2 inch needle, but all I could get at the drug store in that length was a really tiny gauge and it takes FOREVER for it to suck up the juice. So 20-21 gauge, 2 inches. I'm all over it.

A 3 inch or maybe longer, maybe 14 or 16 ga. needle would sure aid in getting that last drop of juice out of a bottle, hate to waste. Of course a larger gage would not work on the BCs but then just switch to the 21ga.

Perhaps GV might start carrying such?

With a cover or cap for the needle...

I get my syringes from my local pharmacy. The pharmacist orders them for me. I use lots of them, because I make all my own juice. I get 3ml with 20ga needles. I buy a box of 100 for about $15. All are luer lok. I have several 14ga blunt tip needles, which are fine for sucking up juice from the bottle, even straight VG. I then change the luer lok needle to the 20ga for filling Phoenix and Fluxos.

Dumb question....what does the luer lok do??? How is it different?

www.
Grainger industrial supply is a really great place to find Luer Lock needles and caps. As well as bottle caps with built in needles. I don't have all the links handy, but do a site search for my handle and grainger and you should find a thread or two where I posted them.

Just bought a box of 50, 21 gauge 1 1/2" needles from them for $12.
