I am vanilla and caramel lover but so far none of the vanilla custard or caramel mixes are vapable. It tastes like chemicals or something.

Did make a good sweet strawberry/choc/NYchessecake blend.

It maybe an early throw in the towel for DYI for me. I think I need to leave it up to the ones who know how to blend the rght flavors. :(

I have made several with these in it all were horrible almost rancid. Some have steeped for about 4 days...They all had the same underlying chemical taste. So tonight I just mixed a small sample of the VC and another with the Caramel...and Yuck. These 2 happen to be capella.

I have been mixing with 15-20% flavor.

The cheesecake blend was pretty good.. but everything with the custard and caramel were nasty. I have tried it with a carto, atty and T-tank all were a fail.

I suggest vc at 10%...the caramel imo is more of a mixer. Start by finding the right percentage of one flavor before adding another.

Edit: I'm with you on the rancid/chemical taste....before I discovered Capellas I was ready to throw in the towel too. I always start at 5% (1 drop per ml) and work up from there.

15-20% is way too high for those flavors IMO. What brand of caramel and vanilla custard are you using?

Don't give up! There is some trial and error in everything but once you get it right it will be so well worth it!

The creamy flavors get stronger as they steep so I always start low with them.

It takes time to learn diy. Each company that makes flavoring requires different amounts of flavoring because some are stronger than others. I made a juice thinking Flavor Art would need the same strength as The Flavor Apprentice. After my eyes stopped watering I threw that juice away and started again. If you still have the flavors keep trying, you already spent the money on it. Or you can just send me the flavoring if you really want to quit, no need to throw it out. No seriously, check out the strengths of other peoples recipes to get a idea of how much flavoring you should be putting in your juices. Good luck.

Water bath? How do you do that.
put the bottle into a water bath for about 10 minutes..it may help

those flavor percentages may be too strong for your taste buds..try dropping it to 10%...i would mix up a small 3ml sample batch of PG and flavoring only..water bath then try dripping that flavor..

Thanks. I just saw on another thread about quick steeping. I will try if with the juices I order from vendors and see how it goes. I haven't started DIY yet, but I plan to. Maybe after my tax refund comes in I will get a setup!
You put the bottle of freshly mixed juice in a cup of warm water for about 20 minutes. It seems to speed the steeping time up some.

I agree that the % is probably too high. Both of those flavors work out better mixed with something like chocolate. I've never been able to make a straight caramel that I like and I love caramel but it's very good mixed with other flavors.

What other flavorings do you have? Don't throw out the mixed juice because you can use it to add to something else, maybe not right away while you're learning but later once you know what you want to achieve.

I spent alot of time trying to get a vanilla to work as one of the main flavors. None tasted right and they all had chemical taste until I bought TPA's 10% vanillian crystals in pg, this is the truest vanilla I have found to date.

I have some vanillan and need to mix it up with some PG and give it a try. There are a few FA and PA vanillas that I like but not quite a true vanilla.

because generally it is not concentrated enough...generally

now some of us have made our own.. i cut 6vanilla bean pods, scrape and put into a mixture of pga.vg,pg...let it sit for at least a month.strain and use..top up with more pga when u take out samples...i sent out a few samples this week and someone wants to use it as perfume..lol

For a 'true' vanilla, why wouldn't you just use a real vanilla extract?

Yeah, I once tried to concentrate vanilla extract by letting the alcohol evaporate and adding the reduced mixture to pg. Tasted great for a short while but it quickly loaded the coil and then burned.

Well i've got some soaking in everclear...guess I'll find out ;)

today mine is on day 28 around about... the alcohol smell is long gone...the flavor is not a stand alone flavor so far but i havent really mixed up any to try...i have been putting it into my mixes lately...not sure if it adds a lot but i believe IMHO that it helps combine or compliment some of those flavors.
