The NHS is not considering prescribing e-cigs.

The report from Public Health England merely states that, "PHE looks forward to the arrival on the market of a choice of medicinally regulated products that can be made available to smokers by the NHS on prescription."

(Bold section is my emphasis)

There are no such devices available nor will there be for the foreseeable future due to the immense cost of getting any such device through the regulatory process. Also, the only companies with pockets deep enough to be able to afford it are either those belonging to Big tobacco or Big Pharma :nah:

The likelihood of getting an istick with a nautilus mini on prescription any time soon are, unfortunately, slim to none. ;)

They will be classified from 2016 as medicinal and as such will be able to be prescribed by doctors. Read first paragraph on nhs site here

News analysis: E-cigarettes to be regulated as medicines - Health News - NHS Choices

I doubt they mean Isticks or anything like this but only the smaller ones that actually look like cigarettes where the end of the thing glows

..and I quote..
"It’s not clear until more studies are done (see Are e-cigarettes safe?). Research to date has not shown the vapour to be harmful – it largely consists of water."

This is what we are fighting against...e-vapor is apparently mostly water...jeez...Its hopeless I fear!

Ecigs regulated as medicine is a bad idea for vapers, what happens when your doctor not you decides you've been vaping long enough to quit smoking and does not refill your prescription. Now your in the same boat as the pill poppers chasing doctors who will write the script no matter what.

No thanks.

I'm not sure about the "medicines" route as the EU TPD decided not to go down that road so any medicinal licensing would be voluntary - see Para. 2 here.

From 2016 apparently it will be possible. UK government can make laws for UK after all. Well most of the time sometimes there's issues like prisoner rights lol
