E-cig newbie. Help and advice?

Hi all!

Firstly let me apologize if I'm going over old ground here - I have been trawling through threads for answers, etc.. but there's so much info here!

After lurking here for a few days and reading up on many different e-cigs, I have just taken delivery of my first one. An RN4081 model from TECC, that they call the Super Mini (10cm).

Not sure what I was expecting really, but just wanted to make sure the following were normal...

After taking my first drags I noticed that the hole on the mouthpiece was a little wet - also seems to be some moisture around the e-cig where I laid it down on my desk. Not loads, but a little. I'm assuming that this is condensed vapour, rather than liquid nicotine!?

I'm using the pre-filled cartridges from TECC which come in a little white pharmaceutical bottle with a purple label. They seem to have a bit of an after-taste similar to Bonjela (mouth ulcer/teething gel).. is this normal? It's not totally unpleasant, but I wasn't expecting it.

Other than those things, I'm very impressed... sitting among my co-workers right now happily blowing smoke rings!

Comments/help welcome,

Thanks in advance!

I've been cig free for 35 days now, I am using same model RN4081 but from e-cigs.co.uk.
I fill my own carts and direct drip. If your carts were leaking, you would taste it. Trust me you would know (AAAAAHHHHHHH).
But I know how you feel, sitting in my local pub vaping away while every analogue smoker is outside, freezing there butts off, gives me a real sense of pleasure.

I started with the RN4081. Many of us did. And just about everyone who has tried something else has given up the RN4081. You can immediately improve your experience by direct dripping. You can vastly improve your experience by researching the KR808D-1 or the 510. From there you need to look at a high voltage mod like the Prodigy. Good luck.

My story may be long and dull, or not depending on your POV, but here is how my start with the RN4081 turned out: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/general-e-smoking-discussion/64170-search-perfect-e-cig.html

Thank you - I will give it a read...

Forgive my ignorance, but I'm assuming that 'direct dripping' is manually refilling the cartridges with liquid? What makes this a better option?

I think I started with the RN4081 because of its cigarette-like appearance. Is there anything that is smaller and more realistic? It's a bit chunky!

Thanks for the advice so far, I'm off to read your thread.

Direct dripping is dripping two or three drops of nic juice directly on the atomizer instead of using carts you would just have an empty mouth piece. You get 4-5 draws this way before you need to drip again but it's better all around vaping. As far as something smaller than the mini... I have no idea. I would rather go bigger for a higher volt device.

Thanks for that. As lazy as it sounds, I'm not sure direct dripping would be for me. The majority of my habit is social smoking, outside of the office.... at a bar, etc. So I'm not sure having to open my e-cig and drip every 4-5 draws would work for me. You say it's 'better' vaping.. could someone explain the advantages?

If I do decide to tread the path of 'pre-filled' whats my best option? (I'm still open to direct dripping if it's way better, but would like to know the best alternatives too).

Anyway, last night was my first night out with my RN4081.. have to say, despite it not being the 'perfect' device, it went down a storm. I really didn't have any cravings for an analog and all my friends wanted to give it a try, INSIDE the bar.. woo hoo!!

I think I've got a handle over how long each cart is going to last now, which is good - although I'm glad I've got more on order!!

Thanks again for your responses, sorry if these questions seem a little lame - but it's a bit of a learning curve!!

No bother. That's what the forum is for. I'm only on my second week of vaping and having some trouble with the switch. Still have not completely quit analogs. But am down from almost 2 packs a day (6 yesterday and pleased after 35 yrs of analogs). Hope to quit completely very soon but still have not been able to find "my flavor". The folks here have been very supportive and I may have given up several days into the experience without their help and support. the flavor thing is driving me crazy though. What I loved last weekend and ordered a mess of I can hardly stand now.
