When asked by the Post-Dispatch whether e-cigarettes are more harmful than regular ones, Siobhan DeLancey, an FDA spokesman, responded that the more relevant question is whether they're as safe and effective as FDA-approved smoking cessation products.
"The FDA will not know the answer to this question until the marketers of e-cigarettes seek FDA approval," DeLancey said in an e-mail.
Last year, the agency analyzed several brands from China — where most e-cigarettes are made — and turned up traces of toxic chemicals in some. One brand contained diethylene glycol, an ingredient in antifreeze. Several other brands, the FDA reported, had chemicals such as nitrosamines, the carcinogens found in tobacco

E-cigarette fans descend on St. Louis
We need to learn the art of lying, without lying, too. It's so easy to tell only half the truth without putting it into context isn't it?
Forget the fact that all NRTs also have the same small amounts of nitrosamines and carcinogens too ehh?
Couldn't someone put up a blog post about how NRTs contain cancer causing nitrosamines?
Turn the tables on them?
Those of us who rely on electronic cigarettes are in desperate need of an investigative journalist to print the truth about e-cigarettes before its too late.
Its already too late for millions of people. Many foreign countries have banned the products, stating that the United States FDA determined that the products are dangerous. In the US, some who had switched to electronic cigarettes switched back to smoking, believing that was safer. Some smokers were considering making the switch, but decided not to. I wonder if the FDA is proud of doing such a good job of preventing smoking abstinence.
What's this?!?
"Electronic cigarettes are battery-powered devices that deliver a spray of nicotine without any flame or smoke just a puff of steam."
I have never had that spray feeling... Maybe I have a bad kit! lol!!!

Awesomeness!...the specific quantities of TSNAs found in 1 g. of e-liquid (8 ng), the Patch (8 ng), a day's supply of Nicorette (16-20 ng) and a day's supply of Marlboros (110,000 ng)
Gawd, y'all are making me want to crawl into a hole and pull it in after me.
What's really embarrassing is that I know for a fact that the reporter spent more time speaking with Treece than me . . . Treece provided a ton of background information that made the article possible. And then, of course, the reporter spoke with Spike both before and during Vapefest, as well as many vapers and vendors who attended Vapefest Friday afternoon.
I was really impressed with the reporter. She asked some tough questions and did her research . . . and managed to digest quite a bit of rather complicated information in an incredibly short time. I thought it was a fair and balanced article. I wish more reporters would do research like this one did.

Indeed, she did ask hard questions. Too bad that she didn't call out DeLancey for side-stepping the question that was actually asked.
That makes them sound so cute. I prefer "Axis of Evil!""Alphabet Soup Group."![]()
