If you can find a DE in 440 Cor-Bon. Do so. You'll have to reload yourself but it's well worth the experience.

Barring that then the 600NE revolver will be just fine...

Before I hit another decade mark I'll have a 600NE double rifle.... -Magnus

Not sure what caliber is, but the barrel looks cool....ok, im not that bad.
Not sure I could handle it, cause bro's 45 has a bit too much spunk to it, but I recon you get used to anything. Id be wise to start with a 9 though. But until I can afford a LOTTA practice, a gun wouldnt help me in a bad encounter. Guns are the only weapon I CANT use, short of point blank. At least Im honest about it.

It's fairly easy to handle because of the massive amount of weight. Smaller 357 and 380s in snub revolvers kick harder.

If you're looking for any 9mm or 40S&W it's hard to beat the Springfield XD/XDM line. Taurus makes very nice and affordable options as does Ruger. I'm not a big fan of the 1911s but there are many of those to be had at great prices. A Beretta 92FS INOX can't be beat on the sexiness meter.

If you don't like the Springfield then the Sigs. And just a small step down the Glocks. You can try a Glock in their own 45 G.A.P caliber too, a bit hotter than a standard 45 w/ extra mag capacity options.

OK, that's enough. I'm starting to drool again. -Magnus

IM gettin the itch...But Im gonna feel like a tool when I go shopping for a piece. " yeah, thats looks cool, what kinda bullets it take?"

Ask the local gun shoppe for their recommended courses before you shop for a firearm. You'll get to use more than one, learn a bit more, etc. and then you'll be able to settle on something that looks and functions to your liking. Firearms aren't for window shopping, that's a sure thing. -Magnus

Hey now... Don't be dissing the 1911. The Browning M1911 is the state gun of Utah.

Serious. Utah has a "state gun."

You must be rich! A H&H .600 Nitro Express "Royal" runs GBP105,000, or call it US$170,000. (Plus postage) :) Cheers

Mine is a Westley Richards Droplock in 600NE. The wait might just kill me though. Pricing varies dramatically based on many factors. I'm not spending an inconsequential amount but it's not something to post about. My arrangement is also non-traditional through a customer I contract with. I'm considered wealthy in terms of tax bracket but could never afford to outlay the price on the W-R outright. -Magnus

Has Magnus ever given "unsound" advice? He seems to know everything about everything...

I give unsound advice all the time. Ask me anything about a woman for example.

I know a lot about a few things and nothing about most everything else. If it's intolerable sometimes, I apologize. Just fake me out and tell me there is a donut somewhere close by and I'll run off after it. For hours. -Magnus

I was just pulling your leg. I meant nothing by it.

I'm clueless when it comes to women. I met my wife in high school... We celebrated our 4th yesterday.
