Behind you
It's hard to beat a 22 or 22LR for the sheer options at fun at about any range.

You know what I saw the other day that was cool but totally something I would ~not~ do. These canisters they sell at Cabela's now that you shake up and when shot, they explode a bit. Nothing dramatic but definitely SFX worthy. And they sell them in different sizes for different calibers and ranges. -Magnus

Has Magnus ever given "unsound" advice? He seems to know everything about everything...

He does seem to have a well-rounded body of knowledge. Polymath is the word that springs to my mind.
Excellent proof that a wee dram occasionally does ye no harm.

I've yet to find anybody like him on QSMB.

Cheers

I've seen them, but have never blowed one up. I usually shoot on the west side of Utah lake. During the summer there's lots of dry brush and too much of chance to catch something on fire. In fact somebody started a fire out that way doing target practice during the holiday. It was ruled an accident, but there are some really stupid people out there when it comes to firearms...

Is it too much to ask that people clean up after they're done shooting? It pisses me off to no end to go out there only to find millions of spent casings and trash. Don't ruin it for everyone else; clean up your crap! I always take out 3 large trash bags of garbage when I leave.

sound advice...go to some classes do your homework this decision is your life...also a good gun safe is advisable...

Yeah, I got a mini female basketball team. I keep all live weapons out of the house. (Long blades, hardwoods and steel) Im working on training them with foam padded fakies so they realize what daddy is doing, and a few knocks on the dome let them know they arent toys. Im kinda too scared to get a pistol till they are all old enough to know what guns do, and hopefully are scared to death of em. I know in order to use it to protect the house, it must in fact BE in the house. Their too young and snoopy to risk that now. Putting it in a safe wouldnt help much if we got an intruder. House isnt big enough to have time to unlock and make moves. Better to have a belt, eskrima stick, knives...something for close combat. But Im a ju-jitsu, aikido, and muy-tai guy. Once I get bigger house and older kids, Im desert eagle and shotgun guy. Definetly before they hit dating age :p

I'm sorry or congratulations? ;-)

My wife and I will be hitting our fourth in September if we make it that far. :-/

-Magnus

We've been together for over 11 years now. It just took a while to get the whole wedding thing sorted. On the plus side, I'll never forget our anniversary -- 07/07/07. Yep, I like to keep things simple. ;)

Sorry to hear about the marriage issues. :(

Mine is a Westley Richards Droplock in 600NE. The wait might just kill me though. Pricing varies dramatically based on many factors. I'm not spending an inconsequential amount but it's not something to post about. My arrangement is also non-traditional through a customer I contract with. I'm considered wealthy in terms of tax bracket but could never afford to outlay the price on the W-R outright. -Magnus

Wow, I'm in awe. I thought you were kidding. I just love British double rifles, pure artistry in metal and wood. I'm curious though, why chambered for 600NE? Surely it's "too much gun" (I know, I know :)) for anything in the USA, even bear? Really a Big Five weapon, and only two or three of them? Are you planning a safari? (Seriously.)

Cheers, and congrats on a great purchase, it'll become an heirloom, that's for sure.

Perish the thought...It must be able to go THROUGH a car...LONGWAYS...or its not enough...

palm and thumb readers can get pricey but look around...they are not all bad and ours was pretty reasonable...and above all <<<READ THE REVIEWS>>>
