I apologize for not keeping up here in this thread.
It isn't you, it's me.
:)

In general, I gravitate towards causes and big ideas, rather than individual people.
I guess it's just in my dna or something.

The only exceptions to this rule are my wife (a true angel) and my dog, who are both more than just "people" to me.
When I come to know you, I can grow to love you, but until then you are the Great Unwashed.

I wish I could find common ground with "people" in general, but for me it takes a few years of getting to know someone.
I don't like that this is my way, but it seems impervious to change.

I don't trust easily, I don't suffer fools, and I don't like douchebags.
I guess I'm kinda harsh in that respect.

But I welcome you back, Magnus, nonetheless.
You are none of the above
:)

I was going to suggest heading OUTSIDE!, but I see you've already been there.

I grazed the OUTSIDE! but don't intend to stay there..

The thread on safe wicks tugs at me a bit, .. haven't come across any others yet.

Right now I've got an excellent dram of whisky to enjoy. -Magnus

OK - going back to the original topic - I do have some thoughts on my return to ECF that are relevant to the issues of conversion, risk reduction, etc. Thoughts welcome.

  • CASAA vs FDA - I'm not seeing anything horribly new here that helps ~vaping~. What did I miss? I still see a lot of talk about the evil FDA but mostly about has to do w/ everything but vaping (w/ the periphery catch-all of Cancer).
  • Elitism in Vaping culture - will this kill a still fairly young culture? I remember not too long ago when you warned people off of Blu or "gas station" options you also had affordable, easy to maintain, and readily available options (e.g. eGo, Boge cartos, etc.) and people didn't overly-criticize them. Now if you come to ECF and you're looking for "reassurance" I imagine you're more afraid of cartomizers and low-maintenance systems by the time you walk away. And like other nascent cultures I bet more people just walk away and into worse things.
  • WTAs kinda went off the rail, didn't they? What the sin happened there? On top of that the RTS Vapes US-made controversy, trolling, etc. seems to never-end and infested the two (now three I guess) WTA vendors. Uhh. Hands-on feedback from this group of good people?

And.. .... ... Go! ;-) -Magnus

Nope... Nothing new here. The FDA is still  and most still think CASAA is . The truth, as in most things, is somewhere in the middle (for both groups).

Elitism is found in every "culture". PC gaming vs consoles, VB.NET vs C#, AMD vs Intel... Will it kill vaping? Not likely... There's a price point for everyone. To the few people I have spoken to directly about vaping, I recommended starting with an eGo type e-cig and Boge cartos even though I moved away from them long ago myself. Why? I still think they are the easiest combination for someone to get started. If they want to "expand" later into VV or Genesis style atomizers down the road, that's great, but I still think the KISS method is the best place to start.

I found WTAs to be extremely helpful, but haven't used them in a long while. They worked well, but were scarce initially and I had to find a more widely available alternative for my own sanity's sake. A local convenience store carries General Swedish snus, so when I feel I'm missing that extra "something". I'll swing by there and pick up a can or two to supplement the vaping. It works well for me so I haven't looked into WTA again for some time (about a year).

I buy my nic from MyFreedomSmokes, but remember the RTS controversy. What a cluster :censored: that was... Good example of some of the garbage that goes on here.

I admit that I don't keep up with ECF as much as I used to so I am happy to see your comments Magnus coming from a fresh perspective.

The FDA. Most of my life I have buried my head in the sand and believed what the FDA was dishing out without question. Thanks to the 2009 FDA report on electronic cigarettes my thick skull finally opened up enough to see that at best the report was propaganda. I would be willing to bet a ton that if you asked 10 non-smoking, average people to read this report the bottom line conclusion would be that vapers are smoking anti-freeze. With forty million people smoking in the US alone why in the world would the FDA not put their efforts into investigating the ecig in a positive manner? Particularly when it is showing so much success when compared to existing products. As is usual it comes down to MONEY and who is really pulling the strings at the FDA. I urge everyone to invest in two hours and watch this documentary titled, “Burzynski”. Dr Burzynski movie (FULL VERSION) Should his Licence be Revoked, Clinic Closed, You Decide. - YouTube. It lays out the case of one doctors struggle to treat and cure cancer and being harassed and blocked by the FDA at every step. I will admit that I was very skeptical at first and half of the first page on a google search is about fraud. But the fraud screamers had no documentation just opinions. It reminded me that I have seen this same sort of tactic before with ecigs. On the other hand the movie is well documented and easy to research to see if they are telling the truth. Bottom line is that until the FDA is washed clean we don’t have a prayer.

*trigger*

I've been down this road w/ Dr. Burzynski before - and I'll just say that skullduggery by the FDA's part does not mean he isn't a charlatan. Furthermore the Government trying to "hijack" something doesn't lend it credibility - if anything exactly the opposite. (Not to mention the official records indicate something else entirely and would be incredibly hard to fabricate. Selective reading of judgements is not objective documentary research.)

Now - instead of going down the road of what I found, I'll offer these two things instead:

In cancer science, many "discoveries" don't hold up - This isn't unique to Good Doctor B and it's rampant across quite a bit of Science but people hardly notice.

What Dr. Stanislaw Burzynski doesn’t want you to know about antineoplastons - It may be instructive to read the comments debate from the bottom up.

Bottom line is that Government's evil does not make their targets Good. Likewise in the case of overcriminilization a Prosecutors zeal and innuendo does and even conviction does not make the target bad (see "Three Felonies a Day", the onging WSJ and Forbes columns on overcriminilization, etc.).

Now you want me to leave ECF again, 'eh? ;-)

With that said - it's about finding the truth of things beyond the politica and noise of it.

AND DOWN W/ THE FDA!

-Magnus

(BTW, the Charlatan charged - not tested for free - his therapy on HIV infected candidates and people trying radical hair loss treatment. Those are on the official record the documentary cites but conveniently leaves out those details. That's slimy any way you cut it.)

Good to see you back Magnus, and everyone else checking in on our old thread!

A few random drive-by comments:

Elitism: I've been seeing far too much of it on ECF, but the upside is that's it's only coming from very limited sources, and the typical tone tends to damage it's credibility.

WTA: I use it very sparingly as a supplement to my regular stock, and am sold on it. I didn't need it to resist smoking, but it has drastically alleviated some anxiety issues.

FDA and the ANTZ: they seem to be losing ground, but still fighting, with the typical head-in-the-sand "we don't know anything good about e-cigs" stance.

New stuff: More and more VV options and new replaceable-head cartos and tanks coming on the scene.

Coming full circle just in time for my 3 yr vaping anniversary: I started vaping when my DIL told me about buying her first e-cig at the local mall. It, of course, was crap... I found a better model and kept vaping, she gave it up and continued smoking. But, she recently tried again with some equipment guidance from me, and so far so good!

Brain Exercise: it hurts! they're making me learn stuff!

Man - this is starting to look REAL familiar! ;-)

Hrmm - Snus and I never got along but WTA is still painfully expensive. I'll try some at some point but I'm not having issues in particular right now.

-Magnus

No kidding on the price of WTA... When you can DIY regular nicquid for pennies/mL, it doesn't really make much cents... err... sense.

Yeah - I vaguely recalled the debates on how things should cost what and the disputes over it.

I'm not likely to try it anytime soon. First order of business is to pickup a ProVari V2 if I can and some sort of tank (Phiniac?).. something I can manage and, from where I was, a really basic setup. KISS from now on.

Insomnia returned instantly when I came home - this is something I have to get sorted out. Otherwise I'm almost walking unassisted again. Trying to line up work - my brain thankfully still seems to be worthwhile.

Good weekend plans? -Magnus

KISS is good... Tanks are good... Just make sure the tank material is polypropylene or glass if you like cinnamon or citrus flavors. Polycarbonate doesn't hold up very well in my experience.

Nothing exciting this weekend. Maybe I'll finish running CAT6 and RG6 cable. Depends on what the wife has planned for me...

So a quick boot back into vaping was helped along by the folks at Ovale USA who helped me out w/ a deal on an Ego-C Twist vV. I'm surprised I like it at all. So between that and a used ProVape-1 I'm "stable" and probably going to keep it right about that way. A lot of other priorities before tanking or custom mods..

The rest of life is starting to reboot more and more - too slow, really challenging, and at totally unforgiving times - but it's what it is. And I get to spend time w/ my daughter again so all that needs to be right - is.

There is no shortage of things in life that can be remedied with the love and perspective of a 4yo. :D

Rambling. -Magnus

My favorites are Copper Creek and Ahlusion. Very clean taste with both of them. I only like a handful of flavors from each as all day vapes, but I enjoy many from both as occassional vapes.

Never heard of Ahlusion - will look into them. Copper Creek's Cherry really got me in the first runs but haven't had much luck since. Letting the House and Butter Rum steep now before trying again. The CC tastes were really clean though - no doubt - no strange lingering tastes like so many other vendors. Thanks! -Magnus
