Greg isn't as well informed as I would have hoped he would be. I believe 95% of the members on this forum could have done a better job discrediting that doctor than he did, but I reckon it's better than nothing at all. At least the doctor wasn't well informed either. Funny doctors keep throwing up the formaldehyde argument that's been debunked. Greg did put her on the spot though when he asked her to name which studies she kept referring to and she couldn't. She just kept saying there was a lot of studies but she kept saying in the same breath that there hasn't been enough studies done on the effects of vaping. Made no sense what so ever. Horrible segment IMHO.

I haven't seen the segment yet, but in my opinion there should be consequences for any doctor or medical professional if they deliberately spread misinformation and lies, and they should be held liable for their statements and any false claims that they have made.

This might sound a bit radical, but in my opinion, the anti-vapers are basically causing deaths and can be considered accessories to murder, when they manage to convince any smokers to keep on smoking and not switching over to something that has already saved countless lives. They basically want smokers and certain people to die. That hardly sounds like something that a doctor should be doing. I thought that doctors took an oath.

He had a strategy problem. If you don't know about something (let's say Chromium), stop there and ask questions. What it is, what does it do, how much they found, how does it get into ecigs, where else is it used, is it found in nature, what are the accepted limits, how much is there in outdoor air or spring water etc. Eventually something will come out of it. And, in the unlikely event it doesn't help his argument, at least he gets a highly informative segment for the audience. Which is still a good outcome. Debating just "looks like smoking" doesn't get very far.

Of course as I expected she brought up the whole formaldehyde study.....as they always do, even though even the researchers who did the study is distancing themselves from it.

And she was introduced as a practicing physician, and yet she mentions the whole "antifreeze" argument for PG while ignoring the fact that PG has been used in asthma inhalers since the 1950's, and thousands of food products and pharmaceutical drugs today contain PG.
She also mentioned how Hawaii just raised the age in order to purchase tobacco products to 21 because too many 13-15 year olds are smoking. How is that going to help considering that the previous age was 18. So apparently the fact that they can't legally buy the stuff now isn't stopping them. Raising the legal age to 21 isn't going to stop them either.

It was my first time ever watching his show and I loved how one of the other guests? asked the doctor if she had a patient come to her and say that he wanted to vape instead of smoke what would she say. She hemmed and hawed and didn't really give a straight answer.

I keep waiting for somebody to question those in the medical profession that trumpet the "we don't know that it is safe" mantra:

Why does it need to be proven safe before use? How many advertisements for prescription drugs must we see that spend more time listing side effects and dangers from use then benefits? How many advertisements from lawyers must we see that want you to contact them if you've taken a certain drug or had a particular body part placed in your body? You prescribe these medications and install those faulty body parts, yet now you want to demonize vaping because you are not sure it is safe? Really? Obviously, those in the medical profession do not have stock in vaping equipment and/or e-liquid companies.

She referred to smoking e-cigarettes and second hand smoke. I kept waiting for him to use the old SNL line: "Jane! You ignorant xxxx!" It was the perfect setup for it.

yeah the whole reason they use it in antifreeze is because its not poisonous like whatever it was they used before, completely self-detonating argument
Ethylene glycol. It was poisoning dogs because the sweet taste would attract them. You have a car with a small coolant leak, some dog laps it up and then you have a dead pet.

To the best of my knowledge, there are 3 or 4, at least 2, different grades of PG. Industrial and USP (pharmaceutical) are on the ends of that stick. I know for sure that the amount of anything is what makes it 'good' or 'bad'.

Well, I was disappointed. Both were woefully unprepared. I expected that with the so called doctor (?), but I did not expect it from Greg. Very unprepared. It devolved into both parties discussing nothing more than opinion rather than expounding on facts. Greg should have at the very least been able to show his personal nic reduction in MG #`s. He could have cornered her on the anti freeze lie, and the formaldehyde claim.

Meanwhile on Fox 26 Houston local news station, this morning a Doctor from the Kelsey Seibold clinic states that e-cigs all have nicotine, carcinogens, and many other dangerous chemicals. So you really don't know what you're inhaling and if you want to stop smoking there are much safer ways.
Yeah, like Chantix. One side effect is depression which causes people to want to commit suicide. Much safer.

Well I have to somewhat apologize for the heads up. it was nothing of what I expected out of a pro vape host. He was not as prepared as I thought he would be and had every opportunity to slam the "doctor" he had on his show. I did however like the rant he gave the American Cancer Society for not appearing on his show to defend their comments and opinions on e-cig safety.

It seemed the doctor would not realize the concept of harm reduction, and made me feel like she thought everyone was a non-smoker looking to pick up a vice.
