well...just in my short experience with vaping, i'd say its highly unlikely to find any death reports soon. I can give you one perfect example of better health with these things and it's a sure thing, b/c I havent been able to do this in 20 years. Today I went swimming with my family at the neighborhood pool. I was able to swim across a fifty foot pool without coming up for air. And I wasnt winded! I havent been able to do that in the 20 years I was smoking. That was amazing! lol I was utterly shocked! Throw that in with the 20 point drop in my blood pressure after 3 months of vaping, and it's pretty clear that vaping is a whole heck of a lot better than smoking. And in case you ask, I dont do a lick of exercise lol dont hold your breath for the attributed death to e-cigs. As others have said, there might be complications from the flavorings, but even that might be no worse than occasional sensitivities rather than a general public health risk. i'd put my money on the e-cigs being pretty darn okay for you. The history of the e-cigarette is a rather good indicator of the intent of its use and I for one dont think that it was a marketing scam. May your vaping be long lasting!

Wow, that's great!

Ever since I first joined the e-cig bandwagon I've been curious about whether or not a regular nicotine product like the gum, patch or inhaler has caused any illness or health issues, and I've yet to find a report of a patch causing a melanoma or the gum causing mouth cancer despite several reports of long term use (some people use the patch for over a year, and there are people like Paris Hilton who are addicted to nicotine gum despite being non-smokers).

I haven't found any such report. Now the main side effect that I've had from vaping are the hiccups!! When I get juice in the mouth or accidentally take a gigantic hit, I get hiccups, which leads me to believe that either nicotine or PG has some kind of effect on the diaphragm which causes it to spaz out.

If someone were to suffer any serious ill-effects from Vaping, we'd all be the first to know, and CASAA would be all over it.

I have been thinking about this a lot today. Even with long studies it may be hard to find ecigs to be the cause of anything because there is little or no control subjects. Most of the people who vape smoked for years. Those years of smoking would muddy the waters on finding the cause of an illness. If the same symptoms it illnesses were also found in large amounts of people who ONLY vaped and never smoked may show definitive evidence, but at this point it really is too small of a population size to be statistically significant

The best way I can put it is this; the FDA actively tried for two years to find anyone with serious health consequences from e-cigarettes to help pad their drug delivery stance. They were unable to do it. At worst, they found people with mild symptoms that also happen to appear on the quitting smoking symptom list. Yes, we're in the early stages of e-cigarette use, but so far our batting rate is a heck of a lot better than Chantix was at this point. :)

You know your right again. I was just really hoping to find something negative. (except you getting ejuice all over your hand) The question "if e-cigs cause death?" Might be premature in fact I might have to revisit thing question in 20 years. :) I really hope the answer is still NO. I guess we'll all have to wait and see.

Thank you for your help. I've working on something and I'll post it when I'm done. If anyone still want to comment on the question please do. I could use your help.

Just wondering....You say that you are doing studies on vaping and long term effects, and also that you vape too.. My question for you: Why are you so intent on finding someone that actually died from vaping? Wouldn't this be a negative for us and our causes?

Yes it would. Your right. But the thing is I can't find (at this time who know maybe there wont be any deaths or maybe there will be) that e-cigs are related to death. I don't work for any company or a lab or some big tobacco. I'm just your averages vaper trying to make sure I have all the facts as they come to the vapping community. When I talk to smokers I want to make sure I have all answers to there question they may have.

I know it's a stupid question... But I know we're all smart and I want so see if someone can find ONE just ONE article linking e-cigs and death. I did a google search myself and after reading about 30 articles they all are either not true and "trying" to link e-cigs to death. Or the person was an ex-smoker for 25 years and said person died from that. Can someone please find a Stone Cold Article saying that an e-cig killed them? Ready set go :)

It seems you are the one who is concernced. You might want to look into the long term affects of inhaling PG or VG, as over 80% of the content of e-juice is either PG or VG.

I think you may find that inhaling Flavoring and Sweeteners to be the Largest potential health risk.

If it turns out that there IS a Significant health risk associated with the use of e-Cigarettes that it would seem the “cause” you speak of would be unjust.

And then wouldn’t it be More dire to have a free exchange of information?

It sounds like you have the answer to this one, I mean hell, you've done your own extensive research on it. "As of now, there have been no conclusive studies linking electronic cigarette use and death." I'm really not sure why you're so determined to find a study proving some kind of lethality related to vaping. It's being researched, but I doubt much will come of it as far as an unbiased report of vaping being linked to untimely death.

The thing is, for we 20+ year smokers, we WILL BE diagnosed with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease - PubMed Health
If it hasn't happen yet to you, it will eventually.

My mother, who had quit smoking 30 years earlier and it was never mentioned till she was on her deathbed dying from CHF (congestive heart failure) suddenly had COPD written in her charts and smoking was being blamed for her death due to COPD.

Mix in E-cigs after quitting smoking? Chances are, any health issues that arise from the years spent smoking might prolly be blamed on e-cigs instead.

Point is this, we have already spent several years putting nails into our coffins. Just because we stopped and went to an alternative nic delivery system, well, those nails are still there.

I can see it now in tomorrows paper - Man killed by using a e-cig. Story - While driving home Mr. somebody was kill by his e-cig when he hit a tree and his airbag went off and forced his e-cig thru his mouth .....
or
Lady killed while using a e-cig. Last night Miss was killed by her e-cig when she tripped and fell jaming her e-cig into her....

I'm sure we can come up with a lot more where a e-cig causes death...

I have definitive proof that ecigs caused the death of my bank account.

yep. i have only been vaping for 45 days so far and i have dropped almost exactly 2x what i would have spent on analogs. however, my wife and i have both quit smoking, so we are buying vaping supplies for two, not to mention "learning curve" and general curiousity of trying tons of different setups and liquids.

i had nothing to add to this discussion...just had to comment of this post since i can relate...big time. :p
