I have been happily vaping for the past 5 weeks at work. Since switching I have not had to take a break every hour or so and go outside and smoke. That means my employer is actually getting more work time out of me since I take less breaks but I guess that doesn't matter.

Today I get an e-mail telling me that from now on I need to vape outside because my supervisor has received complaints from "several" people about the smell. Really?

This probably wouldn't bother me half as much if one of these other employees had actually come to me and said they had a problem with it. I would have had no problem discussing it with them and trying different flavors that wouldn't bother them or even moving away from my desk area but instead of that I now have an order that I have to start going outside again and I get no say so in the matter.

Gee thanks.

I know I'm gonna receive lots of hate replies, but, I'm one of those vapors who feel that other people (especially at work) should not have to be exposed to my vaping. It does have a smell and depending on the juice it can be a strong smell. Also, we really don't know the long term effects it has on us. While I am willing to take the risk because I know it's better than smoking, I don't think others should have to be willing. I couldn't smoke indoors and neither can my coworkers, why should I be allowed to vape.

in my current seasonal job (driving combine in pea and lima bean fields) i could smoke analogs whenever i want, as long as i did not stink up or smoke in the cab. Now that I am vaping, still with a gas station pos (better stuff on the way) i vape inside the combine all day. I havent asked for permission and dont do it when the head supervisor is near, but I figure i should not stink it up, and not having disgusting burnt butts in the cab til i could dispose of them should improve the smell all around. I think most jobs, I would probably just vape on breaks. It would be nice to work somewhere year round where i could openly vape at work.

If you are in need of a quick toke while inside, I have found that doing a double inhale makes it almost undetectible. Take a normal drag, inhale half-way, then inhale deeply before exhaling. You can also try holding your breath for a second too. This method has gotten me through some rough trips to walmart! Almost no vapor comes out on the exhale and unless your co-workers have their noses in your face they probably won't even notice.
But, don't get fired over it. You are doing your lungs a favor--inside or out. Good luck

I just stealth vape if im going to vape in the building, I work in a very well known corporation and have yet to have any problems. I think people are scared of what they dont know, so keep them in the dark ;) I vape some "tobacco" flavors and some flavors like chocolate or fruit and the worst I've had someone ask is what cologne I'm wearing. Just turn your back to the open wall of your cube (after looking around) and then vape.. hold it in for a few.. and exhale with "pursed" lips with some force and no vapor.. just my 2c..

though I screwed up once and had it fall out of my pocket (ProVari with a Penelope) into the seat in a meeting room and I didnt notice till the next director meeting was going on.. waited and went back and it was sitting on the conf table upright.. wonder what they thought it was... lol

@LemJe That really does suck that you had to get an email from your boss about it. I feel these days that a lot of people feel threatened if someone voices their opinion or thoughts. Its kinda sad that expressing yourself has gotten to this point. I remember when I used to work for a high end auto dealership that even expressing thoughts about "free oil changes" or "free 127 point inspection" was enough to get a check mark in that "bad" column.
