I am really scared. This is the only thing that is keeping the cravings away and keeps me off analogs. I really believe I can slowly reduce nicotine until I am off completely with e-cigs. But I will probably need a year.
I think there are several reasons e-cigs work for me like nothing else, but the main one probably is that I don't have the "pressure" to stop smoking -- I treat e-cigs as switching to a new brand of cigs, don't think of it as "stop smoking" device although ultimately that is what will happen.
The other thing is that I still get the nicotine that helps get rid of cravings. E-cigs also provide a type of ritual that a smoker has (remove analog cig from a pack, light it, put it out, etc). I keep my e-cigs in a case, so I also need to remove it, screw in battery, drip few drops of liquid, recharge the bat, etc -- also a ritual.
FDA approved bupropion medication for smoking cessation even though there is danger of seizures, hypertension, and other not very pleasant side-effects. Could e-cigarette be more dangerous? I don't think it possible.
