The only thing I steep is my tobacco mixes. I actually use a crock pot on tobacco... 4 hours in a crock pot at 150 degrees then I let it sit for about a week. Then it's ready. Everything else I vape right away. Even custards. I've learned if it's good it will taste descent when you make it. Steeping sometimes will make good juices better. But if something tastes rancid, no amount of steeping I've done makes it taste any better. Sometimes steeping will mute flavors, giving people the misconception that their juice tastes better with steeping but honestly it's just muting a flavor that probably needed tweaking.

So... all of my recipes, and I have many, are doable right away, except for tobaccos.

I have 3 ADVs they all are tobacco absolutes/N.E.T.s and none require much more than an overnight cap off steep (to get rid of alcohol taste). All the other tobaccos I tried that required a looooooooooooong steep I did not like after all that wait time. But yes an E - Juice bar shake-n-vape style would have to be fruits mostly. I have gotten rid of over 100 tried but did not like flavorings - DIY is not for the faint of heart.

Has anyone heard of these E juice bars that you can go into and order a juice made to order and then vape it straight away? That kind of blows all our DIY mixing and steeping out of the water doesn't it?

I would be interested to hear how they taste (and the range they offer) to someone who is a discerning vaper.
(By discerning vaper I mean someone who doesn't just like every juice they try)

It may be down to my nicotine base, but 'fresh' juices are not something I care to vape (if I can help it).

Um, not really.

Steeping is mostly over thought.

And I'm pretty friendly with a guy who owns a few shops that do this, and while he does a good job, my stuff is much better to me.

I would be interested to know what type of taster you are (super, normal or non-taster), as everything (for my taste) needs steeping, a week or so for fruity juices and obviously longer for creams/custards/coconut.

As stated in an earlier post, my problem may be in part with my nicotine base, but steeping is a must for me.

My biggest suggestion on Tobaccos is to look through this thread (feel free to post any questions also) Favorite tobacco flavoring discussion - Tobacco flavoring discussion only You can do the same in this thread about Tobacco Absolutes Tobacco Absolute - A Flavor All By Itself.. I am a super taster so it is tricky for me to try and help. Be sure to list what the brand of the flavoring/ tobacco absolute is so people can respond in a helpful manner. Good Luck ;) P.S just go to the last page to post questions both of those threads are pretty quick at responding.

Gotcha...so you're saying if you add a cream or custard or anything other than straight fruits (even sweetner) then you'd have to steep it. @Hoosier how do you steep?

Seldom do I steep. Just isn't needed for a vast majority of my recipes. When it is needed, I seed steep.

I'm very picky about flavor, must be strong and cover all the notes I want, and I am quite picky about my bases. I'm not willing to use funky nic in anything.

Tobaccos, creams and deserts usually need to steep. Candies and fruits usually don't need to steep. Read my blog on steeping it will tell you all you need to know.

There is a myth that everything you make needs to steep and this is just not true. I have a few tobaccos that are great with no steeping but I find they improve greatly over time. The rule here is mix, taste and if good then vape away it will only improve over time. If it don't taste right then steep it. If after it steeps and it still ain't right try to adjust it. If it's still no good after that let the kitchen drain vape it.

There is one shop in my hood that makes stand alone flavors and steeps them. When you come in, he mixes up what you want from the pre-steeped bottles and you are good to go. I don't go in the shop very often because there is a young, hipster crowd that hangs out in there for hours at a time and his prices suck. But if you are in a bind for some moderate priced house juice he's a good plan B.
