E-Liquid spilt on hands/fingers

I recently bought a vape from a local shop to help try and cut out my 2 year smoking addiction.
The colleague at the shop filled it with e-liquid (6mg) while setting it up for me, but I ran out this evening and needed to fill it up myself.
I took the e-cig apart and had to take the wick out and other parts to enable me to fill the tank, and as I started pouring the liquid at the sides of the tank (avoiding the middle bit) I noticed that my fingers were wet from these parts that I had taken out.
I panicked and I felt my fingers start to tingle/sting where the wetness was, and I dropped my e-cig onto the sofa and washed my hands with soap. I was in a rush to go out and I had a friend already waiting for me so I quickly (possibly incorrectly) put the e-cig back together (hands wet again from the parts and the fact I had let the e-liquid spill out of the tank all over the sofa and once again ran back to wash my hands.

Do you think this will have done me any significant harm?
And also how shall I go about changing my liquids if every time I try to change it, since I get liquid seeping into my skin?

What equipment do you have?. I get eliquid on my hands and just wash it off with soap. Just make sure not to touch your eyes or lips with ejuice that has nic in it.

hi @Lilac20 . It is doubtful any harm will come from the e juice getting on your hands. I usually keep a paper towel handy when I change my juice, just in case. You'll find after you've refilled a few times that spilling will be rare but you still might get some on your hands. 6mg nicotine is not very strong, just wash your hands.

Juicy fingers has become a way of life for me. I'm a sloppy dripper (you may learn about dripping here some day). I don't get any sensation at all on my fingers, even with 100mg concentrate that I cut down to vapable concentrations of 6mg or less now. But we are all different and I was a long time 2.5 PAD smoker. If it really bothers you, you can use nitrile gloves but that would probably be a PITA every time you had to refill a tank? Or some other gloves that give you enough dexterity for the task at hand.

I agree. There should be no danger at that strength. Just don't rub your eyes until you wash up. You'll get the hang of filling it quickly. And welcome to the board.

If you're still using 6mg and washed it off right away then i wouldn't worry too much about it as long as its not in your eyes.

If this was a concern Id be dead many times over... Not that its not possible to get an OD on nicotine thru skin. (Patches etc) When I first started years ago I definitely spilled bottles of liquid on myself, mod, etc. With levels found in bottles of liquid even in the 24mg level I doubt you would end up in the ER, a child yes.

WHere you would and should worry is when handling straight nic when getting into DIY. I used to buy 100mg and break it down to 3 to 12mg. I wore gloves and still would manage to get that shaky over nic'd feel. Id just drink tons of water and lay down till it passed. I now only buy 30mg and dont get sick. THe liquid I make is always around 3mg now.

Tomorrow I will be going out to buy some latex gloves (to be on the safe side) and going to take the e-cig apart again, clean it all up and re-fill the correct way.

If you ever get the green goblin (nic sick) just eat a pack of sugar, glass of water or a soda. Im a cigar smoker (love me some stogies) and its worked wonders.

A short story... for the first time since I've been vaping I did a long and rather tedious set of flights that put me in planes and airports for 10 hour stretches. I thought about some nic lozenges to get me through, but I ended up taking a bottle of 24mg of my fav juice. All day I put a couple drops on my finger and rubbed it on the inside of my lips. It worked great and I didn't kill anybody all day, set off any smoke alarms in the planes, or get sent to Gitmo by the airport gestapo for sneaking vapes

I don't suggest you try that at home, given your sensitivity, but it's an example of intentional skin contact (and then some).

I don't suggest you try that at home, given your sensitivity, but it's an example of intentional skin contact (and then some).

I used to smoke around 10 rollups a day (equivalated to 25g pouch per week)
I wanted to go cold turkey but the habit of smoking was what I was craving the most so an e cig was a better option for me

I have 6mg in my Subtanks and 12mg in my Kayfuns. I always manage to get a little bit on my fingers, especially when changing the wicks. I dry the excess off with a paper towel. No harm done and not enough nic to make a difference.

I get eliquid on my fingers/hands all the time. Been vaping 3 years.

Only time I had a little problem was using 18mg nic......I have sensitive skin and it caused the skin on my fingers to peel a little bit.

But I get that when swimming in a highly chlorinated swimming pool........Getting nic on your hands in 6mg will absolutely not hurt you. Or even 12mg. I'd be dead by now

This. It's common to vape 1-3milliters of 6mg nic vapor per day for many people, and your lungs are a membrane for absorbing vapors. You're referring to the momentary exposure of a small amount of vapor to your skin, not exactly a membrane that engages in fast absorption.

Just emptied and washed out my tank/atomizer thing (iclear 16b) using latex gloves, paranoid to try it again but at least I have protection this time
