Hey all

So I am brand new to vaping (actually I havn't even started yet but everything is in the mail) and I have been doing some research and just want to ask some questions on the dangers.

It seems to me that I am trading one risk for another. That is the infinate risks associated with cigarette smoke for the increased risk of nicotine overdose. It is damn near impossible to OD on nicotine with standard ciggies, but this is not the case for e ciggies. I have decided that for me the benifits far outweigh the risk, but I still need to know some things.

  1. How bad is it if I get the e liquid on my skin (say a 48mg strength).
  2. What would happen if I left a bottle of e liquid for months or years and much of the PG or VG evaporates off. Would this cause very high nicotine concentrations in the remaining fluid. How dangerous could this be?
  3. How strong would the e liquid have to be to give a nicotine OD in just a few puffs without enough time to start getting sick and realizing you have taken in too much nicotine?
Cheers all:vapor:

1. 48mg would irritate your skin, but we're not talking about alien blood here. You'll get to keep the body part. Just rinse it off as soon as you can.

2. Keep the cap on the bottle and nothing will escape it. Just shake it up before you use it.

3. Way too strong. You don't need to worry about that. You'll get a little bit of a head rush, possibly a headache and a noticeably faster heart rate. But you're not gonna die.

You could get a little nausea with too much nicotine too, but I have never heard of anyone getting terribly ill from nicotine. I think you would worse off eating smokeless tobacco like snuff or dip than inhaling a little extra vapor(I had a friend who swallowed an entire wad of snuff that was in his mouth, disgusting).
All in all, just watch out for raised heart rate and trouble sleeping and you will be fine.

1. It can be pretty bad. That's why if your DIY e-liquid making (assuming since NOBODY vapes 48mg) that you wear gloves and it wouldn't hurt to have a long sleeve shirt on as well.

2. It doesn't evaporate off. Also, keep it in a cool and dark place to prolong it's life. Nicotine actually loses it's potency through time. So, there's nothing to worry about in that department. Maximum shelf life is 1-2 yrs.

3. It takes a little while for an OD to happen and the symptoms goes away after a half a day or a few hours.

*If your thinking of vaping 48mg than don't. It's meant for mixing and not vaping*

Mix it down with either VG or PG and most importantly. Visit this section regarding that topic:

DIY e-liquid

You can get information on where to get an online calculator to know how much to add and mix to get down to 36mg and lower. Those are the maximum amount of mg that a person can vape safely.
