You might not like me for this, but I believe drugs should be banned from schools. ALL drugs. Including alcohol. Including nicotine. We were free to smoke at the university, the old building actually had ashtrays built in walls... Also small ones oves pissoirs for convenient relieving... And I strenghthened a rapidly developing habit...

No. No drugs at schools. However benign the delivery system is.

No tomatoes? (and thus no pizza?)

I respect your opinion, and to an extent I agree.
Keep in mind, however, that I got the go ahead from all my classmates and the teacher, if anyone in class has a problem I will go outside like all the analogs.

Yeap, I don't like you for that. You would have to get rid of all soda and coffee. Why do you feel so strongly about that? What does it hurt any other student if one is vapeing away in the corner or heck even the middle of the room for that matter ? It doesn't harm the other students but NOT allowing it could cause the student that is being prevented from getting his DOC ( drug of choice) to suffer. Might be hard to concentrate if you are jonesing for a smoke or some coffee.

Ohh and also, That very attitude of intolerance is what is going to get E-cigs banned.

That's reaping what you sow... YOU dont want people to have any drug in school... maybe someone else doesn't want You to have any drug ANYTIME... if your attitude is to legislate away peopel righst... dont freeking complain when you start loosing some of yours.

i grew up in a town that shut down any establishment that kids were found smoking pot. the pool hall, the coffee shop and a few others. the out come was a 400% increase in teen ...... use. you try to ban or constrict peoples' vices and you push them to the alternatives. stop trying to censor society, you only make it worse.

I've been e-smoking about 2 weeks, and I vaped in one of my classes. It's a film class that is 2hr 45mins long, where we watch an entire movie and then discuss it. I really hated sitting there the entire time without a smoke break, so now it's great to be able to pull out my mini and puff away. I hold it in so that there's little vapor exhaled, and it's dark as we watch a movie. It's still great, though!

By 'school' I take it you mean college/university?

I wouldn't condone anybody vaping during lectures (least of all the lecturer ;) --hubby was desperately dragging on his rollies before he had to go in), but it would be cool to see e-cigs accepted in public areas such as coffeeshops, student unions etc.

Not around the labs though!

I know this has been stated before, especially within the threads pertaining to smoking on airplanes... but we all cannot forget that it was the brash, I will smoke where ever I like mentality of the "Golden Age" smokers (as TB calls it), that got the anti-smokers so mad.

We have to remember that smoking is not acceptable in certain places and by being considerate "smokers" from the start... we hopefully will not end up where tobacco has.

Yes, it is fun to test the waters, but we should remember to be considerate of establishment owners, ask where appropriate, and not "smoke" where not appropriate.

sorry... it is the mom in me to remind everyone to be on their best behavior because it is our example that will set the tone for the future e-smokers.

I agree Lacey. Discretion must be used. It might be different if everybody in the world was in agreement but they are not. Most don't even know what an ecig is and even if they don't say anything they surely think you're just an inconsiderate .... I mean ,you wouldn't vape in church, would you?

No. But it is unlikely you would find me in a church. :)

Imho nicotine aids thought processes and the absence of it can be a distraction. Way back in the mists of time we were allowed to smoke in lectures and tutorials at University. In more recent years (since the invention of the wheel) this was stopped, the reason given always being insurance premiums and fire risk. Given that vaping carries no risks of this sort I would hope that vaping could be allowed at universities and colleges. It's probably sensible not to allow it in school in the lower years - it should tie in with the age at which one can legally smoke tobacco, perhaps.
