No no by all means have a go. :)

Oh wait.. you mean bad's give-a-way contest?

You'll have to ask him but signs point to "no".

Lol - we'll have to see what Bad says when he wakes up. I'd love to have a shot at one of those R4's though... I don't think there is a single one in all Europe yet - and I'm not gonna buy 100 in from Royal Smokers.

Well I just got my shipment of 5 packs of the, supposed, 510xl r4s.

I don't think any of them actually are R4s. The first I tried to use I couldn't get as much juice in as I should. This made me suspicious. Pulled it apart (I have 25, right, shouldn't matter) .... There's polyfill down in there.

Try another one out of another box. I got 1.8ml into this one no problem. Took a hit. Great! Took another, and I was inhaling hot glue. Took it apart and confirmed it's some form of the bastomizer.

I've now taken at least one out of each box apart and confirmed that none of them appear to be the real deal.

These are all 510 xls in 2.5-2.6 ohm.

It's too bad because that one first hit tasted great.

Seeing what the vendor has to say about this.

Edit: So am I guaranteed to get real xl r4s if I order from e-liquid.cn? More than willing to buy 100 of them if they're the real deal.

So is there a consensus amongst the most experienced E2 pioneers as to what resistance in ohms would work best with an eGo?

Well I have r4's @ 2.5-6 ohms and a ego and juice tastes good to me.... But that's also possibly bc I haven't tried the 3.0 bc they aren't available yet in the states..... Except for some unmentionable s on the forum :)

I don't have any R4's (yet) and I don't have an eGo, but from what I know of their voltage I'd say 2.8-3 ohms (that's assuming the R4's are fairly similar to the R2's and 3's).

I'm not about to tell anyone to NOT contact their dealer if they have a problem, but understand they probably didn't know what they had and were only going by what MicroCig or e-liquid.cn told them. If it's a taste problem I'd at least try doing a quick rinse/dry burn before giving up on them.

I have 100 3-3.2 ohm 510's on order now but they haven't shipped yet. badkolo just received a batch and I'm pretty certain he said every one he checked looked correct. If you don't want to gamble you can hold off until I get mine and take a few apart.

I'm not really expecting much. Just a little disappointed since it was COV and others had reported getting the real deal from them. Should have been tipped off by the fact that there wasn't any polyfill things wrapped up like in bad's pictures in the box.

Yeah, that's pretty much what I thought. COV has supposed r4's but they're ~2.5 ohms. My r3's are still serving me well so I guess I'll wait until I can be sure of getting higher resistance units.

I'm just going to chock the $50 up to lesson learned. I've got a couple of them working properly but they definitely don't wick fast enough at 2.5-2.6ohm. Vapor production is great and getting plenty of nicotine but no flavor. Time to order 100 510 xl r4s in 3ohm from e-liquid.cn.

Hang on to your old ones. If you end up getting a variable device down the road you'll be able to use them at lower voltage.

Well, there are at least 5 r4's in Europe :)
I bought a 5-pack of 510's from Cloudsofvapor just to see what all the noise is about.
I haven't dissected any yet, so i dont know if theyre truly r4 or r3.-something-or-other.
So far i've tried 2 of them on my SB. One wicks fine at 3.7volts, the other one not so much. They measure in at 2.6 and 2.8 ohms, with the 2.6 ohm wicking the best....go figure!
Both of them taste quite good, but give no throat hit at all. Maybe i'm just used to something a little harsher, i usually use old-style cartomizers at 5volts or LR510's at 3.7volts.

I'd like to have a go at Bad's quiz as well......

Think I'm just going to PTB them. Just did it to one and it's actually performing perfect. Despite it having ployfill inside.

The bastomizers aren't unusable. Just annoying.

2.5-2.6ohm pre-r4s on an ego battery are probably the best vaping experience I've had yet. Once modified to actually work. Don't think these are going to be able to replace my ego xl attys/carts quite yet because they just don't have the capacity with that stupid polyfill stuck in the bottom of them for no reason.

You can't get the polyfill out? I'd be poking in there with a needle or something. PTB is amazing stuff. It sure has made the vaping world a much better place.

I've been trying with 2 different sets of tweezers and a 1.5" needle from my syringe. Only been successful getting it out when breaking the entire thing apart.

There's always the small possibility that this is the 1 in 25 that doesn't have it in there but I'm pretty sure I feel it. :p

I think I spoke too soon, though. It definitely is better with the ptb but still not wicking as well as I'd like. Will work for now.

I removed the tube from an R4 KR808 that did not wick well. As can be seen from this scan, the wick is not long enough to reach the bottom of the reservoir.
KR8.jpg

This one will work when vaped in the horizontal position, so I'll probably put it back together and keep it as a spare.

Edit - This R4 has a 3Ω resistance.

This is another good example of their poor QC.

I tried 1 so far. A 510xl on my Rivas/eGo at 2.5 and it is tasteless and dry. I put it aside.
