Each inhalation causes rush of dryness in the throat?

I bought an M402 kit back in May 2009 and used it along side analogs for while until my carts ran out. Then I abandoned it.

New Year's resolution caused me to re-arm myself with hardware and juice and I've been vaping exclusively for the past week or so :)

Now, starting yesterday, I noticed that with each inhalation I get a kind of a rush of dryness that irritates my throat all the way to the upper ribcage zone.

I've never experienced that back in may nor during my first 5 days this month so I'm a bit doubtful that's it's some PG allergy. Also, if I don't inhale and just blow it out I don't feel anything.

I've changed juice flavor/manufacturer (all PG) but it's the same thing with all of them.

I'm also drinking tea/water alongside my vaping all the time as for the past 2 years I couldn't smoke an analog without some liquid.

What do you think?

I had a lot of trouble starting too. I had to go back to analogs after a couple days and gradually introduce vaping. And just when I got to all vaping I ran out of supplies and with the holidays I had to go back on analogs for a while and then introduce vaping all over again.

I think part of my issues was my lungs attempting to clean themselves out. I hope it goes well for you

My understanding is that it's similar to the concept behind eyedrops. If you use too much in a short span, you eye stops trying to moisturize itself, perceiving that it is actually *too* moist. Remember, this is essentially hot water vapor; even though it usually cools by the time it hits the throat, it still saturates it. If you're chaining your puffs, there's a good chance you'll give yourself a dry throat.

It does seem to happen more with particularly large nic doses, though. I've also seen it happen more with the clove. I'm thinking this just adds to the moisturization issue.

I started vaping 12mg. That turned out to be too low except for times I'm vaping alot. Since then my normal level is 24. Anyways I still suffered from the dry throat when I started. I even bought some VG to refill my carts and still had the dry throat. Though at that time I didnt rinse out my carts so I could have still had exposure to VG. Anyways it just took me time to get used to it. Once I did I was fine

Hi guys.. I figured I would just chime in here because it seems that some people have a bit of the wrong idea here about the whole dryness and vapor concept. What you are inhaling is not water vapor and nicotine (if that were the case dryness wouldn't be an issue lol) -- it is propylene glycol and nicotine (Nicotine is not water soluble). Propylene glycol tends to have a "drying" effect on the throat and lungs, and many people have reported noticable dehydration with the use of PG. Ever since I started vaping.. I always need a drink with me.. usually water or some 4C sugar free packets that you pour into a water bottle -- those work good too. If you don't vape a lot, use can use mouthwash (rinse & GARGLE) will get rid of that dry PG feeling in the mouth and throat.

I agree with all the posts above, but there is one more reason that comes to mind for a dry hit when vaping.

If you have been infected with a cold or flu virus, you can experience a more sensitive reaction than normal.

PG does appear to fight the virus very effectively and normally the virus gets no further than this.

I have been infected several times over the last few months, and have had the sneezing, sore throat, runny nose, but thats as far as it goes, and normally I would go on to get the chesty cough which goes on for weeks and weeks. But each time I have noticed the dry hit, which I have dealt with by switching to a Mentholyptus vape, or just a Menthol.

So although it is usually caused by too high a juice, the reason the juice appears too high all of a sudden, when it was ok last week, can be the common cold virus.

Anyone else notice this?

I agree, Petbe! I recently had a head/chest cold and was lamenting that I use VG juices, no PG, since PG is better than VG at killing bugs. But I found that with my cold-irritated lungs, I could not vape flavors at all. Would make for much coughing. But unflavored VG nic juice was zero issue. I am still finding that I prefer less flavor to more, and sometimes none. And some flavors I found even before the cold were too irritating. I think more thought should be given to flavors, in addition to the usual PG/VG considerations. There is much chemically we don't know about flavors, and real chemical info is not easy to find. Some flavors, like cinnamon and clove oils, are known irritants.
