It did well @ 2A, but note most will not want to dag a cell down to 2.8V, even the 3V cut-off I mentioned (which now puts them <600mAh) may be a tad to low.
Found this comment interesting:
The China made Tenergy 14500s are rated at 800mAh.
I'd like to see someone add a protection circuit to a Sanyo 14500 as they list capacity at 840mAh.
With their 18650s both Tenergy and Sanyo's mAh ratings are quite accurate and top performers.
Do you have a retail link for either of these 14500s?
Have you looked at these: Panasonic CGR18650CH 2250mA. I'm using these in my LavaTube with good results but they are unprotected. They seem to be some slightly safer version of Li-Ion but not IMR/LMR. I don't know what the chemistry is. Somebody in a flash light forum ran them up against some AW IMR 18650s and they compared well.
Haven't seen any other size of the Panasonic.
Wow, just found this at Callie's Kustoms: Guess it is an IMR.
2250 IMR 1mm Top
These are the new standard in which to judge all other IMR's! What are the advantages of IMR vs standard lithium ion batteries?
Longer Life over typical Lithium Ion batteries
Higher output. Up to 10 amps continuous discharge
IMR is considered a safer technology, less chance of explosions
