Really? Why? (I ask so that we can definitely take your comments into consideration considering there are at least two more of these coming in the next week!)

I would have to agree that the ECA guy sounded hesitant. Cunningham on the other hand had his convictions. That's what the ECA guy lacked, conviction. Not saying he did a bad job but he was being a bit too diplomatic, i.e. like he was treading lightly afraid that he was going to offend...It's a delicate balance :)

I understand everyone's concern...

One thing that we have to remember is that it is very important for the ECA to remain neutral and I know many will say this is not the time for neutral. But remaining neutral allows for the ECA to be seen as an un-emotional authority that is here to present the information about the ecig, not the conspiracies.

We all agree that there are definitely some industries, organizations and medical professionals who are against us and the ones that SHOULD be aligning with us due to public health concerns still have the opportunity to change their tune and they need to feel, from the ECA, that they are welcome to reach out.

The other thing is that while the ECA is passionate about the ecig, it is also comprised of industry members and not of scientists or doctors. So while the ECA can help guide those interested to science, discuss elements of science, they certainly cannot and should not be making any health claims.

While it is wonderful that consumers like BigJimW continue to be the voice of the consumers and it is strongly encouraged that this rhetoric continue, there does need to be a voice that is consistent and open. (not saying the BigJim's isn't... but it is a different kind for a different venue)

There was an interview this morning on a New Orleans Radio Station and as soon as it is available... I will post. :)

WOW, just WOW!!! This radio guy is spot on!!!! He has a common sense approach to things! I liked the interview. I also think the ECA guy did what he needed to do...let the announcer do his show. The ECA guy is the catalyst and allowed the announcer to do battle for the PV....brilliant and exactly what he should have done, IMO. It is a great thing to be an aggressive, passionate warrior for whatever you believe in....it is BRILLIANT to allow others to think THEY are the enlightened on and they will become your foot soldier!

Well, my take is that the James (the "ECA guy" ;)) did a great job.

While I think it's fine (and even fun and thought provoking) for folks to perhaps get a little more aggressive, I think that we also need people talking on the subject who aren't quite as "in your face."

Room enough for both approaches, but for the ECA, I don't want them to come across as a bunch of salesmen pushing a new product . . . I'd rather the ECA come across with a bit more credibility than that.

And let's not forget that manufacturers/suppliers pushing the envelope on claims and assertions is at least partially what got us into our present mess.
