I have recently been lurking around ecf looking for some good recipes because I cannot make anything great at all. What I ran into really irked me. Someone asked for member's best recipes and someone said "I am not giving up my best recipe". WT*, we are a community of vapers and should join together to help each other out as a whole. Thus the point of this forum. Now their are quite a few very brilliant minds on this forum and I do not believe for one second that either; 1)we cannot come up with a flavor that would compete with the best juices out there....or 2)there is already this fabulous recipe out their that someone has hoarded with no intention of selling or giving up. People need to be realistic and realize that they probably are not going to become the next BWB or AVE. I know if the community as a whole came up with this one great juice, this would even the playing field between the vendors and community and take some of the power from them as well. Who knows, one day these vendors may be illegal anyway. Look vapers, behind these great vendors are regular people like you and I, not MIT or Yale biochemist, and if we pulled back the curtain more people would realize that working together and sharing is the key to this victory I for one love to stock up on my favorite juices and it would be such a relief if one of my flavors was one of my own creation as I tend to change up my flavors throughout the day. My point being that IF this magic community diy juice was created, it should not be seen as a threat to any supplier. I would be surprised if their business was affected at all as I and everyone else would still need to purchase that vendors special juice for the same exact reason we started buying it. Although, I have seen vendor(s) in the past completely bash any attempt to create anything even associated with their product, I believe this kind of behavior completely thrashes the imagination of a individual. I am sure these vendors were inspired to created their juices for the same reason I am writing this, they wanted to create the best.
My point is this, we have some very brilliant, creative, and imaginative minds here at ecf. I believe we should be working together to put a juice in the "Best Flavor of 2012" list and it should be 100% FREE. If the people who think they have some extra special super duper juice, think its so great, let the community be the judge. Come to the terms that your not going to open up a business in your kitchen, and give a gift to the community. Think about it...this can be done.

I guess I am the only one who wants one of the most popular juices for almost free or maybe this is an impossible task as most vendors must hire Martha Steward and Steve Jobs to create their juices..I shoulda known

I am getting better juices every time I diy than any of the juices I have gotten from any vendor I have used and I am new to diy. For me, just about every juice I make using VZ's super concentrated line or ECigExpresses Flavor express line, is super easy to make and a super good vape. I can add a little vanilla and cream to any of the fruits and have a 'desert' vape. Also tinker with the tobaccos in a similar way. Some people like more menthol in there menthol vapes, some like less. I think a big part of diy is making it just how we like it, not how everybody else does. So we get good flavors and do what we like with them. Sharing ideas, and what flavors/combination of flavors we find good. I think most of use are here because we know we can make awesome vapes consistently, easily, cheaply, while having fun sharing ideas and good products. Sorry, I'm a new diy'er, just wanted you to have some sort of response =)

Welp, I can understand, a lot of vendors have gotten started trolling the DIY forums. I may be completely mistaken, but I'm pretty sure the fine folks at bwb were tinkering with their own, found some golden recipes, and since then have become a well established vendor. That being said... From my own personal experience, take what you like from premade juices and try to reconstruct them, and add what you think would make 'em better.

Also, there is no "best flavor". For instance, I was looking into tobacco recipes. A LOT of folks pointed me in the direction of FA desert ship and their other tobaccos. TRASH! I bought 7 leaves and desert ships, and both I literally cannot stand in any mix or concentration. TPA Tobaccos are decent once steeped for a few weeks, and VZ tobacs are amazing as soon as you swirl them around a bit. This is MY experience. I like tobacco, so for me, the best mix so far has been a mix of vz b&m, flue cured, tpa TA and m-type, and a dash of menthol. I'd love to give you the ratios but it was a bit of a fluke how I got the juice and now I'm trying to make it right again. About all you can do is absorb everything you see on these forums, the flavoring review forums, the recipe forums, and go from there.

For instance. RY4's have always been an enigma to me. I only really tried one about two months ago. I just threw some stuff together and made what I think is a pretty decent one.

Vapezone:
Black n Mild: 2.5%
Virginia Flue Cured: 3%
Caramel: 1.5%

FA Vanilla Classic: 1.5%

Could prolly use some EM or maybe TA or something, but it's damned good.

This prolly all shoulda been in my last post but I'm trying not to be long winded. Either way, this and all other ecf forums are a complete mishmash of info. Your bound to find multiple threads claiming to have found a "golden recipe" which may just not do it for you. Take nuck's tobac recipe for instance. It's so rediculously simple yet people love it. That thread alone has a rediculous amount of replies, and it's not even stickied (at least I don't think). Theres stuff out there, you just have to look. It's not in a diy'ers nature to say, "This is the best juice, it can never get better! Don't even try to come up with anything tastier because it's not gonna happen!" It's all about the tinkering and making what YOU like.

all i am saying is that with the amount of people in this forum, I am surprised there is not one or two legendary diy recipes by now...there should be. I understand that taste is completely relevant but its just surprising that there is not a diy recipe that is well known and has a huge cult following. Even with taste being completely subjective EVERYONE knows bobas and the infamous bwb ry4. I am just convinced that a diy recipe can compete with these juices. My whole point is, what do they have that we dont..What makes them able to create something so wildly popular..why cant we

Let me get this straight, and please correct me if I'm wrong.

With 25 pages of recipes on just the one sub-forum E-Liquid Recipes, you have not been able to make anything great? (There are various threads on other sub-forums that are recipes too.)

With all the tips and mixing chat on this sub, it's still not working for you? (We will leave off blogs on DIY at this time.)

And that is because a request, by a member who has indicated in the past that they want to become a vendor, for best tobacco recipes did not have a great outpouring of recipe posts?

I'm going to give you a story from my past, because that's just the way I am....
I learned to cook from my grandmother. One of the things I learned to make from her teachings is a cheese ball. I make this cheese ball every year around Christmas and give it to friends and family. (Note that others in the family also know the "recipe", but agree that mine is better.) The recipe is really straightforward. It is just 4 ingredients. The whole "secret" is picking the right ingredients and processing them in a specific manner. One example of this is the green onions have to be the diameter of a pencil with no bulb which may seem odd, it's only a freaking onion, but it is actually an important part of getting the thing to taste right.

Now, when I was young, I used to freely give out the recipe to others. What I found was that those people would then come back with an angry attitude because their attempts did not taste like mine. They would accuse me of giving out an incorrect recipe to make a fool of them or some such. Did they actually make my cheese ball? No, they paid no attention to exactly which two cheeses, what exact type of green onion, and exactly what meat and how to mix them correctly and just threw together a couple of cheeses, a meat, and some onion. This was somehow my fault in their eyes, angry eyes at that.

The fix is to tell people to enjoy the cheese ball I give them. It's all natural and very low carb, plus crafted with love, but the recipe is a secret. Everybody has a good Christmas cheese feast.

Now, let's switch to my Cuban Cigar juice. It tastes exactly like a specific Cuban cigar that a friend of mine used to bring over when he visited. It took me 5 months to get this recipe right. It takes an unusual process to make it taste right that I discovered completely by accident. I'm more than happy to make it and give it away. I've given away over 1000ml's of the stuff since I first figured it out. Why in the blazes would I have any desire to give the recipe out? The best strongly implies something special to the creator. The fact that it is only available to the creator gives it even more value to the creator. It's great and unique and only from the hands of SirMixAlot. Plus the SirMixAlot does not have to put up with people who do not appreciate what that recipe brings to SirMixAlot. (Note that I do not know a SirMixAlot and the name is standing in as a generic pronoun for a DIY mixer as SirMixAlot could be any gender/race/creed/religion/education/ankle thickness.) (Also I have never given away any juice to someone who specifically asks for it, only those who have not, but needed it.)

What I see here, on this sub, is folks sharing information in a format that helps everyone help themselves.

Plus I thought DaMulta's Sweet Tart recipe had already gained legendary status. After that one, why even keep trying? (Seriously it is the weirdest, best recipe I, and others, have ever encountered.)
