Sort of a jumbled up rant here. Trying to stay seated at the computer instead of walking outside to have an analog.

Having only been using ecigs for a month or so now and finally getting my order of lower nic juice in, so I can vape at night without having to worry if I'm going to be up all night or not....now I'm wondering how vaping and drinking (alcohol) is for some people.

I'm sure it was or is the same for most that have a drink from time to time, a good analog while drinking is heavenly, but does a ecig calm that craving for people or is it more of a mental thing? Since I have only been vaping during the day, I've been having a few analogs at night, now that I have some 8mg and 12mg nic juices I'm going to try to wing those analogs out of the nightly schedule.

For most people, there is always a super sweet time to have or crave that analog hit. It usually comes after a big meal, first thing in the morning, sex, and drinking alcohol.

I've had a couple analogs tonight while drinking, but I'm trying to avoid them and force myself to get into the habit of not walking outside and just sit here and vape instead. It's hard for me not to want an analog, cause that was quiet time outside for a few minutes. I have no doubt that I can quit analogs, cause I had quit for 8 months (half of last year and the first part of this year). Felt like I was gonna have a mental break down one day this year and so I gave into the analog and I puffed my tension away. Soon afterwards I learned of ecigs and now I'm trying to get off analogs and onto ecigs.

Sitting here vaping some apple cinnamon and drinking some jager bombs, very interesting combo.

*jumps off soap box*
/ends rant

If I bought anologs I would smoke them end of story. But I dont crave them. With them being right in front of me would be really hard to say no. Finish your pack and buy a tin of snus. I did that and have had 1 snus in 2 months. Only cigs were bummed from co workers when we were too slow to keep busy with anything else. I always regret them.

I have no problems at work. I even walk outside or ride in the truck with co-workers while they smoke analogs and I'm fine with vaping my pv.

And the only reason I had kept smoking analogs at night was cause I only had 26mg nic juice and it kept me awake at night. Just today I got my order in of some 12mg and some 8mg juices. Been vaping on the 12mg all day.

It's just up till this point, I haven't had much of a choice at night time, it was all analogs cause the juice I had would keep me awake. Now I have the choice and I guess you could say I'm experimenting with it. Cause when I last quit analogs, mid year last year, the same day I quit, I challenged myself by having some drinks and working things out through the cravings. Sounds kind of stupid, but I figured if I could make it though that, then the rest would be easy breezy. Most people try to avoid things that make them crave analogs, instead I do the opposite so that I can go ahead and get that fight over with and done. It worked, till recently. :p Now it's a new fight, with a different weapon. :vapor: I think this fight will be much easier.

Toker -- you can definitely quit tobacco. I smoked from 3 (finally down to 1.5) packs a day for about 40 years. I was massively hooked. It took me months after starting e-cigs to finally take the plunge (Sept. 30 of last year) into a tobacco-less life. I did it. Not easy. Sometimes I still get huge tobacco cravings, which is weird. If nicotine is the issue, it's especially weird.

But I think other things are going on in this smoking habit -- not sure what. One day just a couple of weeks ago I had really weird, intense cigarette cravings. They were so bad, I was thinking for a while: "Hell with it, I can't do this any longer -- I'm leaving work and going to the nearest convenience store for some cigs." Especially weird, because it was on the day that the idiots in our state legislature had raised the cigarette tax by something like $1, overnight. And here I'd been congratulating myself on avoiding the high costs.

I just let myself be miserable for a while and got over it. I have some Swedish snus here also, if I get a major craving andwant a big shot of nicotine. But I haven't felt I needed to use the snus for a while. You'll get through this -- you will eventually quit.

One thing you might try: there are a bunch of brands of clear plastic tar filters that you can get at smoke shops or on-line (don't get the opaque white ones -- get the clear ones). Put one of those things over the cigs you're smoking. Use the same filter several times. Take a look at the tar that builds up inside the filter. Now think: that's 'x' grams (or however you'd measure it per cigarette) of really bad stuff going into my lungs with every cigarette, times 'y' cigarettes a day, times 365 days a year. So over the years, how many pounds of that stuff did I put into my lungs? It's pretty sobering...

Then, the challenge is: giving up the nicotine. I'm not brave enough yet to tackle that one...

I smoke like you do. make sure you are using a high enough mg or it will be hard for you. I use 24mg and go outside most of the time to vape. While I don't have to it helps simulate an analog. Drink and smoke with no problems or feeling I'm missing anything.

The high mg is nice during the daytime, but screws me up at night time. So far, this 12 mg has been nice all day.

Just a thought, but it also may be some of the thousands of chemicals in analogs at night help counteract some of the nicotine that keeps you up. So you might be good experimenting with other strengths. So many variables. I figure a few nights of less sleep will eventualy catch up where you can get some sleep no matter what u smoke/vape. who knows.

mikea - I have no doubt I can kick the habit. I've done it several times in 13 years. Each time I kick it, I stay away from it longer and longer. A couple years ago I kicked it cold turkey for 6 months, then this last run was for 8 months. It's a huge mental game and with each passing month the challenges got stronger and stronger. I still did good, but when the pressure got so bad that I was taking my stress out on others (even my kids) I had to give in then. Now that I know about and use a pv, it should be much easier.

Yeah, it's all and experiment right now. Testing different levels of nicotine and different flavors. It's proving to be an expensive experiment right now, but I know that in the long run when I find that sweet spot that it will pay off. I had smoked light analogs for several years, so 26 mg nic juice was kicking for me.
