I'm northern Irish. You might sound like meThe UK is home to most of my hereditary roots, and the origin of my language, as well as a VAST catalog of great literature. I'm always intrigued to hear English spoken "British style", and ponder how it grew so flattened, "over here."
One thing that particularly piques my interest -- southern accents are often depicted as having no or soft R's, the way the brits say R's -- but that's really only true in the places that were particularly settled by the *english* (such as Virginia) -- here in GA, there were a great many more Irish and Scots, so our R's are quite hard, completely enunciated.
