I just grabbed a Cloupor dna 30 and on the site from which I bought it from it had a link to recommended batteries so I grabbed the 1600 mah Efest which was the red one. Being a pass through and the box being my at home device I wasn't too concerned with mah. Now looking around I see people referencing the purple ones over the red ones. What is the difference and will this battery be safe?

Efest claims the "purple" batteries to have a higher maximum continuous current discharge (MCCD) rate than the "red" ones.
For your needs, it's not much of a concern... as much as it would for those using unregulated mech mods.
