Ok here is what I found on the "The purple 35 amp Efest batteries are really only 20 amp rebranded LG batteries.", sorry Baditude. I did a timed comparison between new Sony VTC5 and a new Efest 35 A. Now the Sony is rated at 2600mAh and the Efest at 2500mAh. Now I used the following setup and found the Efest 35A out performed the Sony. Vaped as I normally do and now have a Efest Purple IMR 18650 20A 3100mAh I put in at 10:AM this morning and still 1/4 charge showing. I'm figuring I will get 9 or more hours out of it. Oh and I pretty much am a chain vapor using 0 mg nicotine juice. I also feel it should be safe on a 30 watt chip down to .3 ohms which according to my Ohms calculator would be 10 Amps @ 3 volts. That is lower than my Cloupor 30W is supposed to go though it does.

Kayfun Lite + with 1.5 ohm @ 11.5 watts, 4.2 volts
Sony VTC5 2600 mAh lasted 5 hours 45 minutes till low battery showed
Efest Purple 35A 2500 mAh lasted 6 hours and 50 minutes till low battery showed.

Both worked right up to the time listed with no difference in function.

the age / # of charge cycles plays a factor as well. were both cells identical in that regard.. hard to tell because vendors could have sat on the batts for longer intervals than other cells. also, the style in which you vaped can also play a role i bet. long deep draws versus shallow short draws would likely affect battery performance when measuring. thanks for the test though.

Probably a Panasonic NCR18650BE under the wrapper.

IMO, from a business standpoint not even Efest would be dumb enough to overstate the load ratings of a battery that much, while I do agree that the battery shape does actually appear almost identical without actual information related to the battery I simply refuse to believe that Efest would not only overstate the rating by that much but ALSO change the chemistry to IMR and label it as such.

Even if they were going to use a Panasonic Cell it would make more sense to use the NCR18650A which is rated at 3100mah, not 3000mah as the NCR18650BE cell you posted is. The NCR18650A is still only rated for a max of 2C, which is only 6Amps so it would make little sense for Efest to put that battery in a wrapper labeled 20A AND IMR to boot. This is honestly all speculation, if I'm able to get my hands on some of the 3100mah Purple Efests locally from a source I trust I'll rip the wrapper off and see what's going on underneath, which still may answer nothing at all.

NCR18650A is out of the question here. Probably another 'new' cell from another maker but I am curious to know after Efest have marketed a 20A 18650 to be 35A.

Discharge performance between Efest purple 3100 vs Efest purple 2500:

Oh snap, doesn't look like a true 20A sustained, large drop @ 20A.

Any update on what these cells are?
Nothing other than what I quoted as posted by pnyc.

I picked up one of these a couple days ago and I am definitely seeing longer lasting performance. I picked up two more today. Gonna switch out the efest 2600 in my Cana with one so I can monitor it a bit better. They hit harder than any of my VTC4's in my VapeLyfe with my Orchid @ .62 ohms, so I am impressed so far. They take freaking forever to charge, not sure if that's good or bad, lol. I plan to build a standard 1.2-1.5ohm in my Kayfun for the Cana and will report back with results. Running the Cana at 30 watts with the Orchid for sure is gonna drain any battery fast.

The Panasonic NCR batteries are IMR/hybrid batteries. So its not such a stretch for Efest to call them an IMR.

Efest has been over-rating their mAh and amp limits for years. Not unlike certain "fire" batteries that we are all familiar with. We have an reputable independent facility which has bench tested these two batteries and found the purple Efest 3100mah battery to be a rewrapped Panasonic NCR18650BE.

I've seen the email response of an Efest representative lie to a customer that all Efest batteries are made by "the mother manufacturer", whatever that means. This, when we know that they rewrap Sony, LG, and Panasonic batteries and call them their own.

they do overrate their specs. sometimes. not all of the time. the rewrapped '35 amp' are LG HE2's, and I've seen LG's advertised as 35 amp a lot. the VTC rewraps are labeled correctly. c'mon guys. i'm not saying it's absolutely 20 amps i'm just saying we should use our brains and quit jumping to conclusions just because we've seen it said in like 12 different threads.

LG never advertised the HE2 to be 35A. Their spec. is listed as 20A max. continuous discharge.

Well I've seen many sites list the LG's as 35a so idk what to tell you. I never said if you open up LG's spec sheet it says 35a continuous. I said they are advertised as 35a all the time. And that page just isn't proof, neither is a bunch of people on a thread claiming something. Again, I'm NOT saying I trust them, I'm just calling for a little critical thinking. We need to quit believing stuff just because we read it on the Internet. I know, I know... If you read it on the Internet, it must be true, right?
