I have been vaping for about 7 months now and aside from the obvious health effects, I ran into a new one last night.

It was my daughters birthday and I had no lighters to light the candles. It was a very weird moment that I realized I no longer carried something in my pocket I would have freaked out about not having for 10 years.

We did manage to find a book of matches in the back of the junk drawer so she still got to blow put her candles.

Wow... thats awsome! in a not so awsome way.... I feel what you are talking about... I only switched threeish weeks ago and from the start I was resolutely carrying my lighter with me. I figured ya never know when you might need to make fire... kinda like carrying my pocket knife, it just comes in all sorts of handy. A few days into vaping I loaned my lighter to an analog smoker at work and didnt see it for a few days... he returned it several days later and I told him "nah, its cool... I dont need it, I dont smoke anymore" it was kinda a weird feeling.

Fray (sir or Ms.?) that's probably the only down side to vaping... :)

And, of course, not a reason to return to the dark side. To my knowledge, there have been no public bans on lighters and insurance companies and employers don't even ask the question. I don't think there is any e-cig rule that prevents carrying a lighter. No frowns from me if you should pull one from your pocket. Those lighters were sometimes useful in finding the keyhole in a dark entry.

JW50 (sir or Ms.?) not enough to go back to the dark side, but it's a pretty good practice not to carry a lighter when you first start. There are alot of stories on here of people trying to light their ecig. The problem is once you get in the habit of not carrying a lighter, you have to reacquire the habit of having one at all times. :)

I understand. (So the man said.) I never considered the risk of lighting the e-cig. Heck, we're probably headed toward e-candles anyway.
