Lurker alert!

Ive 4 ego batteries (x2 black 650 & x2 Stainless 650 ). the black ones are 1.5 months old and the others 3-4 weeks old. I vape a considerable amount and rotate batteries every 8 hours or so.

one of each color battery and seemingly a charger has died within hours of one another. Same issue as Ive seen mentioned in other threads that Im not aloud to post in- they screw into the charger and the switch light blinks, but the light stays green on the charger. Battery doesnt charge. Luckily, I had a spare charger and the same batteries wont charge on it either..no red light. My other two batteries charge well in the spare charger, but not in the seemingly dead charger....anyone able to educate me on this one please? Thanks!

Have you been using LR attys? People have had similar problems, including myself, when using 1.5ohm attys. Others maintain no problems, still others say 2.0ohm LR attys are OK.

I played around with one of my 'dead' batteries on a USB charger and, unseen by me at the time, melted the charger with much smoke (it opened up like an oyster).

Freaked the cat which was sleeping under the computer desk at the time!!!

I have had this same problem with a 900mah ego battery at 1.5 months of use...I read the many threads on cleaning and used 3 different chargers which work fine on my other 3 ego/riva batts. I suspect that dropping the battery in some cases is enough to kill them. Perhaps a QC problem. Disappointing!
After 2+ months, this is the frustrating thing about PVs, that is one seems to have to 'futz' with them too much. (YMMV)
I have also had 3 bad ego chargers that the 3 vendors replaced, but still...
I have not had these problems with my 510.
I guess I will be forced to get a mod...which I assume avoids these problems.

I know this is lame but I never knew you had to clean the connectors!

I was 6 weeks into vaping with my 510 and was rotating 5 mega 510 batteries daily. I noticed a battery was staying lit up on my charger one day! It was a solid color blue and not flashing. I pulled it out and the connector was all gummed up on the battery and charger! I researched it here and you're supposed to clean them with a dry Q-tip- every time you use them:)

I've also heard stories about a bad charger destroying ppl's batteries- several in a row no less! I guess if a charger doesn't work, do NOT screw several batteries into it to test it further. Same goes for a bad low res atty. They also can fry one battery after another if the LR atty gets below 1.5 ohms. One guy recently posted on the forums and he'd wiped out 5 eGo batteries in a row! Can you imagine the horror?!!

Can you use a Joy510 wall-USB charger for the Ego batteries?

You need an adapter and it will charge slower, but yes you can.

I believe the charger issues are supposed to be fixed though, or you can use the pass through style batts. They are a little bit longer than a regular ego, but I love mine.

You can NOT use an ego charger with a standard 510 battery however.

Thanks for the info. I would hate to kill my new batteries while I am over seas, with no way to order new ones.

Thanks all.

One charger is dead..wont work on my good batteries. Im guessing that somehow the bad charger killed 2 batts. the spare charger works on the good batts but not the two dead ones. My connections are kept clean and are dry before each charge.

They are under warranty, so I may deal with the hassle of trying that route. I know more folks have dealt with the light on the charger not turning red.....

also, one of the dead batts switch light still functions, but the other does not...neither will take a charge tho

As far as mods being trouble free you might be surprised,it took me awhile to get the indulgence to work at all. Then i purchased a couple of buzz's one worked about half the time the other not at all,After a few e-mails and and some experimenting they all work now but they still require more TLC then any of the Ego's or 510"s that i own .
