And BRAND NEW ATTYS. :) can't wait for it to pass through the customs in Chicago! Pass through... What did everyone on here think of first?!? Ha- should have abbreviated!

I hope that these are going to be as good as they sound. I love my knockoff VV ego, but these sound even better. My Dad also has a knockoff like mine, and tried to convince me that the max voltage seemed about the same as a regular ego batt. I didn't believe it until I tried it. Well, it does seem that the max voltage is about the same as a regular ego batt, and that the lower settings are weaker than what a true ego normally puts out. Not sure if this is true, but it feels that way. So hopefully these twists will be different, in that it doesn't just have regular ego feel at full voltage, and just gets weaker than a normal batt when you lower the voltge. It does defeat the purpose a bit.

Why in the heck dont they make these things with a 3.5Amp limit ?

3.5A would be beyond the safety limits of the battery. Have to spend a great deal more to get that high of a Amp rating. The Vmax from Smoktech and the Provari V2 are two examples of units that have those limits.

Never heard of the Vmax but googling it, it appears to require stacked batteries. Provari wins again!

(It looks like Smoketech tried hard to make it look like a Provari.. hehe.)

Suppose if I or anyone I knew had ever had a problem with a dual battery mod I could agree but I haven't and I don't. I'm far more concerned with some drunk killing me or mine on the highway or being struck by lightning on the golf course, or an airplane falling from the sky and killing me and mine in our sleep, or----you get the idea. :)

The VMax is on my shopping list.

Not sure about your logic there: I've never had a problem riding a motorcycle without a helmet and I don't personally know anyone else who has either, so I guess the odds of something going wrong if I forego a helmet must be the same as getting struck with lightning on a golf course... you get the idea.

We each make our own decisions on risk and I've decided to avoid stacking batteries, but I hope I didn't come across as being judgmental! Still, there are two choices: one choice is safer (however slight that may be) but more expensive, the other is a more affordable knockoff but cut corners on safety (and quality?). Caveat emptor!

Even with all that, the prices aren't outrageously different: Provari is now $159 and Vmax seems to be priced at $128.

(BTW, it's not like I'm way out in left field wearing a tinfoil hat and wringing my hands about the great hamster conspiracy: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/fo...s/76078-exploding-mods-current-situation.html)

Perhaps I came across too strong, my bad for that. Actually what I didn't agree with was your comment "Provari wins again!", that is a matter of opinion. :)

If those measurements are right, this thing is huge!
98mm (650 mAh)
111mm (900 mAh)
121mm (1000 mAh)

Just for reference, I measured my 1000 mAh Ego-T. The 650 mAh Twist battery will be about the same size as the current 1000 mAh battery. The 1000 mAh Twist battery would be about the same length of the current 1000 mAh battery + the atomizer tube.

That's what she said. Seriously though, my 1000 mah Ego C usb batt is 113mm and it's not that terribly huge. I actually prefer the feel of it to my old regular 650 Ego batts. But I really don't get why this new twist batt doesn't have the color changing led to indicate remaining battery charge.

That really sucks.

Is there a noticeable difference between a 4.2 ego batt and this new twist at 4.8?

I have neither of the batteries you reference but from experience with VV units I can assure you there is a world of difference between 4v under load and 4.8v under load. It appears from the chart in post #71 that near 4.8v under load is maintained for quite a while and remains substantially above 4.2v for 95% of the battery life.

I suspect the a similar chart would show quite similar results with 4.2v ego battery starting at 4.2v and tailing off at about the same rate.

If you don't wear a helmet, you've never been in a serious accident. Ask any old biker who's ridden most of their life. It's not a matter of if, it's when. I've had mine, helmet saved my life. Thinking back on it, I'm glad I did. I wouldn't have wanted to die at 28 years old. Wasn't anything I could, the deer wanted to die apparently.

(this only shows the front, not the back where I actually landed on my head)

But yeah, chances of getting struck by a suicidal deer or by lightening can't really be compared.

Either way, I'm alive now, and not-very-patiently waiting for the ego twist to come out :)
