Did you try raising the atomizer connector? Sometimes that happens on clone batteries - Smoktech sometimes sinks the battery connector on the carto itself too deep in the housing.

No, I've not tired that. I'm not sure I will though, could risk damaging the atomiser connection? How would you do that? Pliers and a gentle pull? I think I'll prob just stick the tornado 510 adaptor on it and vape it that way for now.(even if it does make it look rather silly) I'm not too fused, the other identical dual coil works fine on it, just this one. It must be the quality control thing mentioned. The connection raised just a little too much on this one maybe.

Nah - it's fairly simple. Use a dental pick or a straighened paper clip on the carto connector - you stick it in the center hole about 2mm and then just wiggle the center post out a little bit, first one direction and then the other. The carto connector is mounted in silicone and will move out a little bit. The slot in the carto connector is not made for a screwdriver, so don't twist on the thing.

Or - you can raise the center post on the battery the same way using a dental pick or a jeweler's screwdriver - it's also mounted in silicone but 1mm's about all you get. Better to adjust the carto than the battery if you can, though - if you've gotta break something it's better to break a $2.50 carto than a $20 battery ;)

It's pretty simple - just stick a paper clip in the hole in the carto connector and ease the thing out a little bit :D

I just bought two 5-packs from vapingzone - $27.98 for ten cartos still stings a little though :)

Also bought a 420mAh charger to replace the one the spousal unit has that's a little iffy, with the coupon code (ECF10) total was $30.99 plus $5 shipping.

Notes on the ECF10 coupon code:
So, you've gotta get the subtotal over $30.00 for the coupon to work, but it'll save ya a couple bucks.

if the vapingzone cartos work, it's not a bad price at all (especially with the coupon code)! :)

The problem with that theory is that you could pay $3.50 each (compared to 2.50 at madvapes) and still end up with the bad ones. There isn't any way to tell the good ones from the bad ones when you order.

3.50 wouldn't bother me. But I'm not going to order just one. $3.50 times however many I order, to get cartomizers that don't work, that would peeve me off.

Personally, mine have been fine, and I think I have 7 or 8 of them, so I should be good for awhile. Hopefully, this will resolve before I need to order them again. By then, I may get a good mod and a liqunator tank or something.

LOL, you are right about that but I was thinking more along the lines of emailing the vendor first and asking if they are the SMOK branded ones or the old ones....at least if I was buying several of them....

Just for information, here's another EMDCC that sure does look the same, labeled SmokTek:

510 Ego Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer - 1.6 ohm, 4.5ml, - Black w/tip

So, now we have three vendors to look at, and WHO KNOWS which one might the original or close to the original?

I've seen them at healthcabin too and healthcabin doesn't sell Smoktech - but they are expensive there :)

Smoktech themselves say madvapes has exclusive US rights to their EMDCCs and SmokTek is in Florida, so I *think* unless they bought them from MV they're clones. $3.29 each though? Really?

Sheesh.

:)

I've got high hopes for the vapingzone cartos - but as I've said I've only tried one. Ordered them last night and I think VZ is closed on the weekend so they may not ship before Monday - it'll be next weekend before I can offer anything objective.

I did have some success washing out a Smok-logoed EMDCC I'd only run for about three days - I live in Michigan and it's hard to get PGA so I used 91% IPA, rinsed it out real well and let it dry for a couple days - the carto seems to have opened up a little. It's not as noisy and doesn't hit quite as hard as the VZ carto does but it does work about as well as my first batch of EMDCCs did.

We've got good reviews on the EMDCCs from Vaping Zone, bad experiences with the current crop from MadVapes, and nothing reviewed that I've seen from Health Cabin or SmokTek.

Here's the one from Health Cabin:

5pc eGo Mega Dual Coil Cartomizer (with HC Logo) - $18.00 : Healthcabin Electronic Cigarettes - Wholesale and Retail--

i notice the health cabin emdcc has the same blue color wrapper as the curren't ones from mad vapes that have smok printed on them. the wrappers on the original emdcc's were clear.

i have been noticing something wrong with air flow and thought it was a problem with the tube or filler, but this morning i was comparing air flow with and without a batt attached. without a batt attached, air flow was great, so i kept drawing (taking in air) on the emdcc while attaching the batt. what happened was as soon as i touched the batt to the carto threads, air flow was greatly dimished (almost cut off), and continued to be so and get worse when the carto was completely attached.

the original emdcc's, on the other hand, while attaching a batt to them, seem to experience better air flow. i don't know how this could be possible, but it's what happened on the 2 originals that used.

does anybody have a clue? could something be wrong with the design or a possible mistake in manufacturing? can anyone else here try what i just tried and give their results, too? with the skirt in the way, i can't actually see where the air flow holes are located. maybe someone wants to dissect some of these and see if the holes are in the right place?

i'm not saying that the filler hasn't changed, too, but just wondering about the air flow. is there something basic here that i'm just not getting?

Ok, so this is where confusion lies. There are 2 companies with similar names, one in Florida which is branding SMOK ? and the other one is Smoktech ( China ) and they don't brand their cartos that I have seen, at least not the smaller dualies.

Ok, well that blows my whole theory to hell....lol. So when they "fixed" the connection problem, they messed them up.

Apparently :)

Just got email notification - apparently vapingzone does ship on Saturday :D

I'm stalking the mailman anyway - waiting on some 48mg and some 0mg PG and a bit of RY4 flavoring so I can play mad scientist this afternoon :)
