Lower ramp up wattage would be my first suggestion. You can go lower with your temp, probably, but the main thing in TC if you are tasting "burnt" would be to maybe make sure the wicking is proceeding as you want, and that you aren't "over" ramping. Although since it's an Ego coil, mainly I guess making sure the airflow is set so enough is getting to your coil....

What's your usual wattage?

Yes, I actually agree about the wicking on the original coils. It didn't really help that I was using a small Wismec tank and the coils were a tight fit. I'd always get one side of the wick just rubbed off (don't ask me how, but something was going on there but the tank eventually gave up the ghost anyway....). Once I got an ego one mega tank and rewicked one of my coils with rayon, it's wicking far better and coil longevity is great (I used rayon, and trimmed it quite a bit).

Maybe you can try TC again once you rewick one, it was so easy I was kind of annoyed I didn't try it sooner.

I have some TC coils for it, but I haven't used them yet, as it's atop one of my radiuses, but I just ordered a Tron-S tank that I plan on trying them in on one of my TC capable mods...

I normally vape at between 29.5 and 31.5 watts. Don't ask why the 0.5s lol, I like them.

Im back on watt mode. Its easier. And I'm still getting dry hits every 3 or 4 puffs. May need to re wick these coils as suggested, dont think the stock wicking is very good.

Were you using the CLR coils or the vertical CL coils that come with the tank?

I would recommend you start at a much lower wattage (in both cases) and then increase it.

I vape the Ti CLR coils with the temp set to 400-420F and the wattage set to 12-15W.
The TC vertical CL coils were unusable to me.

Are you changing the mode on your mod? Titanium requires the mode Ti and kanthal requires watts/power mode. Agree with Anna, turn the watts down.
Dry hits mean you are not giving the coil time to pull in the juice. Should slow down a little. I have never had any dry hits with the reg clrs or the titianium clrs

I used your settings as a baseline and worked from there. Found what I like, for now. Thank you so much for the guidance.

Being a lazy Sunday, I decided to rewick my clr titanium coil. Used some unknown cotton I got with some readymade coils I had purchased since my cotton hasn't landed.

Wow. Just wow. The taste has changed completely. So much richer and stronger. I upped my wattage and lowered my temperature and have a new sweet spot.

Why would the manufacturer put such poor quality cotton in the stock build? It doesn't make sense, given even freebie cotton tastes way better.

This doesn't make much sense to me.....the temp set is the ceiling of temp that the mod uses so that when it hits that temp it will adjust the wattage down to keep it from going higher. So upping the watts while lowering the temp is self defeating.......can you explain why you did that?

With TC.....

You have to make sure the coil is read fairly accurately at room temperature around 70F. You also need to set the Wattage somewhere close to what the coil needs to fire correctly. Setting it too low will result in bad vape. Setting it way too high will also result in poor vape as it will continually turn on and off the power

Yep and working the mod that hard I would think would shorten its life span.....just my 2 pennies.

Gets to my taste faster I think. Not much variance though, watts up to 25 and temp down to 410 from original 18.5 watts and 420F.

I'm still trying to learn.

mmm..... what ohm is the coil? 1.0 or .50? I think maybe you should adjust some more as all things considered the watts do not need to be that high or these coils are not what you are looking for in a vape. Work with the gear you have don't fight with it. High wattage is not needed with these coils to achieve a great vape. Great vape = good taste and vapor. That can be achieved whether you are mtl or DL. Have you read here at ecf how to even inhale an ecig? There are several different ways but these are not cigarettes and should not be treated as such. 2 pennies.

What you want is sort of a balance. The higher the watts the higher the temp needs to be in order to have a drag that last longer than 1 second. And in my opinion for the clr's you have set the watts way too high. But hey, to each their own, I guess.

Its the 0.5 ohm coil. What would be the ideal wattage for it? My mod however reads it as 0.68 ohms when at room temperature so I've locked it there.

As to how to inhale, I've been inhaling like I did when I smoked cigars. Oh boy, back to learning something new.
