Looking for your thoughts on this device, it looks promising, ordered 3 kits from manufacturer for me and friends to use, got a good deal. Do you like it not like it or what?
I've seen that and coming from the vendor I call it an overview not a review.
You asked for thoughts:
I like the pen cap. I'll be interested in hearing your thoughts once you've used it. The video says it's a CE2 style carto. I'll be really interested in hearing how it works and if it needs any modifications to work and continue working. I use E2's in my map tanks... I have a real love/hate relationship with them. Good ones are great, mediocre ones that need modification are a hassle, and bad ones are just bad.
The unit is classy as seen by 5card's pictures and it is akin to be suitably found in a ladies evening purse or the breast pocket of a suit. Yes it is that classy. There is no mistaken this unit as a personal vaporizer

Discussion
- The unit metered at 2.3Ohm and the battery was fully charged when received;
- Requires a syringe to fill the unit. It comes with a 20g syringe which is totally useless with VG liquids; and
- Loaded 2ml of Bluemist Caramel Tobacco 12mg 100% VG.
I am not a fan of CE2s but I must admit that this one wicked almost instantly and with no foul taste. Vapour production was on par with the rest of my devices and the TH more than adequate. Flavour on the other hand was non existent to faint until about 2-3 hrs in. As I am writing this I am on my second tank and the unit has performed flawlessly do date and the flavour is coming through although muted somewhat.
Compatibility
Although this unit will accept the eGo cone, it is not compatible with the remaining eGo products e.g. mega atties and tanks. The skirt of the eGo products are too long to allow the positive post of the tank assy to make contact with the positive post of the Ikon battery. The Ikion tank however will fit a std eGo batt.
ProsCons
- Extremely stylish for formal settings. The unit will never be confused for anything other than a personal vaporizer;
- Operates at 3.7V (non PWM);
- Delivers great vapour and a decent throat hit;
- Holds a decent amount of liquid (2ml);
- The mouth piece is hard plastic (personal preference) and can accept a std 801 drip tip (not tried);
- Has a sight window to provide the user with a visual reference of how much liquid remains;
- The eGo cone can be fitted and the unit vaped with a regular 510 or 306 atty; and
- The tank can be used on other devices provided you have a 510 to eGo connector as it is the skirt that screws on to the battery, not the atty itself.
Conclusion
- The unit is proprietary out of the box. However the unit can be easily converted to suit other devices (adapter);
- Requires a syringe to fill the tank. It comes with a 20g syringe which is totally useless unless using PG liquids;
- The syringe is not blunt (safety). OTOH an 18g blunt tip syringe can fill this unit if at first you puncture the opening with the 20g (pop its cherry);
- The top cap although a nice concept for keeping the mouth piece sanitized is a fail IMO. The lack of a positive locking mechanism renders an ability to loose the top cap. A better way to secure the top cap would be the simple use of an O-ring; and
- 5 LEDs at the side and the bottom. As they serve no useful purpose (since the button lights up) are redundant. I believe we have moved away from light shows and bling. Furthermore, it is my opinion that the LEDs take away a certain a mount of class this device holds.
The unit is extremely stylish and a pleasure to vape. I was really impressed with its performance as I have stated I am not a fan of the CE2s, nor will I ever be. OTOH this CE2 style atty works. Other than a requirement to fill with a syringe (minor beef) and slightly muted flavour, I have no real qualms with this unit.
The $1K question - Would I buy one? It is too early to say and of course it is price point dependent. Not knowing the price point makes it hard to speculate at this time. The availability of replacement parts is also a big factor when weighing in a decision.
In closing, I never had a dry hit from the unit which is a noted problem with CE2s.
Disclaimer: The opinions expressed here are exactly that, my opinion from vaping the unit. Yours may vary.
well, when it was working, the vapor was very nice and it did provide a clean, crisp flavor to my juices. the drag is a little airy and I found the TH to be somewhat lacking. until the plastic broke (i.e. after 3hrs of use), it actually did not leak.
here are my thoughts summed up in 2 words: total junk.
First of all, these are not made by Joye, but I suppose that was my fault for not verifying. The reason I bring it up, is because the quality of the product is severely lacking. That "eliq" cart is a really, really cool concept (especially the pen clip); however, the sleeve itself doesn't screw down tight on the battery, rather it just kind loosely attaches to the carto via a metal lip that you "click" into place. You can imagine over time that the metal lip will loosen up and no longer attach itself to the cart (as a matter of fact, one of the assemblies had this exact problem, it wouldn't click into place). It really should have screwed in place via threading or something. Another thing, if u put it in your pocket and pull it out, you're more likely to just pull out the sleeve with the pen clip attached whereas, the cart and battery will stay in your pocket.
The cart itself is pretty bad quality too, very, very thin plastic tubing. Both of my carts broke within the first 4 hours, with the plastic cracking at the base of the cart leaking juice all over the place (I am a moderate vaper). I was told it was probably because of the juice I was using (apple, 30 PG/70 VG).
I had high hopes for this product, but in the end, I wasted $60 on this piece of junk. :-(
Maybe you'll have better luck than I will. To be fair, I think the current batch is the first ones produced following the prototypes so maybe they will refine it over time. However, even if they fix the plastic tubing issue, the sleeve attachment itself will not work over time.
oh i did, and the response i received was "I’m sorry but I can’t accept that return, and generally do not accept any returns and do not have a satisfaction guarantee policy. The kit is now used and not in resalable condition."
however, to the vendor's credit, he did offer to replace them for free or to exchange the atties for a different model (still, i would have preferred my money back). so i got two replacement assemblies and contemplated listing them on ECF Classifieds, but ultimately decided not to since i don't feel right selling someone else what i know to be not that great of a product.
I think it must depend highly on the supplier/manufacturer.I got 3 from a friend who bought them from a source in china (not joye tech) and love them .The part that covers the ce-3 (thats what they call the cartomizer) clicks very firmly into place. I have been using mine for a month and its working perfect, no leaks and great flavor. The one thing I did not like was the amount of primer in the ce-3. I had to flush with hot water and a syringe many times to get rid of the primer taste and then flush again a few days later because it was tasting burned but now three weeks later no primer no burnt taste just great convenient vaping. I will not be going back to regular replaceable carts and atomizers. In my opinion these are great quality and I could see this cartomizer lasting a very long time.
