I'm 9-wrapping my 26g 316L @3mm ID, with 9mm legs. It comes in just under 0.7ohms, and I run it at 26W in temp control (380F). I'm thinking of adding a wrap (10 total) next time; I get the occasional pop on long draws, and I'd like to chase that away.

I use the same wire. 7 wraps at 3mm should be around .52 ohms. Japanese cotton on mine.

HD

Got mine today and have 8 wraps of 26g 316L in it for .644 easy to fit even with 1mm spacing

Now i just need to solve the leaking issues...im here for wicking tips

Quickest to build tank ive ever had

are you guys spacing the coil wraps? i did 10 wraps with SS 26g and it doesnt look wide enough for the legs to reach the holes(not spaced) compared to the stock coil that comes with it. mine are about 2/3 the width of the stock coil:

Don't know about cotton, don't use that stuff... I would think that big coil would have enough to fill the channels..

I'm using a 2.5mm kanthal coil right now with rayon and 94%vg no problems. Actually removed a little from the channels to flow even more juice.

The exact amount you need in the slots is directly related to your juice viscosity

well i can see that because the coil i have is not spaced and not as wide as the stock coil the angle of the cotton from the coil to the juice channels make the cotton touch the edge of those air holes on the bottom of the deck. not sure if this will cause leaking or not.

is it? i have already installed her in her non-spaced form. should be ok for the first go around?
It should be fine. The prebuilt coils are all contact coils. I've only used spaced coils with the Bachelor because I always run stainless steel builds in TC mode and spaced coils have been more reliable than contact coils for TC. How has your first build been so far?

i was having to run it super low and kinda getting a non juice flavor but not burnt. it was at .75 and had to knock it down to 25w at 340F and that didnt seem correct. also i didnt dry burn it or anything on the first go. i just did a spaced build and am about to try this out. close to the same width as the stock coil:

how to manage this spitting problem ?

If the spitting is due to "popping" during your draws, it may be because your coil is getting hot spots. Your power may be outrunning the cooling of your airflow. Try adding a coil wrap (or two), or backing off the power incrementally, or increasing the airflow (unless already maxed), or raising the coil a bit more off the airflow inlet. Try a tweak at a time and check for good changes in the popping behavior.

Yes, I don't do contact coils in RTAs anymore, since the flavor is better with spaced...and, as you've noted, it widens the coil so the legs fit better in the base. Your new coil looks great. And I use plenty of cotton...not tight enough to deform the coil when pulling through, but just a little less than that. I trim it to within a mm of the outside wall of the cup, fluff it to make sure the slot is plugged, and trim it away from the O-ring on top of the threads. It looks like you're on the right track.

this spaced out coil is running much better this time. now i just need to get this juice to taste like everyone and the bottle says its supposed to... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Your Coil Fu is strong. ;)

I switched to spaced coils a year or so ago. With higher power mods, contact coils aren't really necessary anymore. IMO, the flavor is better and the coil isn't so quick to gunk up.

im still not getting the flavor i think i should be, especially from this juice(loaded glazed donuts). i think it might be the wicking. im not getting any leaking whatsoever and im not getting any burnt tastes but something is off. im in TC mode running 316L 26g 10 wraps spaced at .87ohm. it kinda tastes like im on the verge of being too high on temp but its only at 30w 350F. this is only my second build so im sure its just a matter of getting it dialed in.

Mad,

Why are you running at such a low temperature?
Propylene glycol/Boiling point:
370.8°F
188.2°C

And VG boils at a much higher temperature. You can google it. At 350 degrees I don't see how you are getting much vapor at all. I would set the temp to the factory default of 450F and give that a try.

I'm getting similar results with almost the same build in my Bachelor but I'm using 24 gauge 304 SS wire wrapped on a 3.5mm rod at 0.52Ω. The plain wire build is not as flavorful as the SS Clapton wire I had in it before. It still has a nice clean flavor, but it's muted compared to my first build. I also vape around 350F (using a TCR of 0105). Going higher makes it warmer and throws out more vapor, but it doesn't improve the flavor.

If you have some 28 gauge SS you can always twist some and give that a try (spaced). I've had good flavor with twisted steel wire on other tanks. It should fit the Bachelor, although I tried a 2x28g/30g SS fused Clapton and it didn't fit in the lead holes. Might be worth a shot.

im on a 26g 316 SS 10 wrap spaced coil(on a machined screw), might be around 2.5mm, its like .75ohm at 35w and 450F. im still not really getting the flavor i think i should be but its better. i dont really have a baseline for the juices i have though or a dripper to test against that either.

i need to find another machine screw thats at least 3mm to make sure i have thick cotton to fill the juice channels. right now im not getting any leaking though with the smaller mm coil.

my latest build is 10 wraps of 24g ti at 4 mm id. flavor and vapor production are awesome. maybe larger id coils would help. i try to avoid tcr confusion by using ti wire at it's known value. seems you really never know what you have exactly when using ss. the boiling point of vg and pg are well known, when i see people vaping at 350 F it makes me wonder.

It could be the distance from the air hole, the coil diameter, or the cotton just needs to break in. Hard to say. I saw your wicking photos. Damn! Can't get much better than that. :thumb:
Never tried using a machine screw for making spaced coils, but it looks like it works beautifully. I use a Coil Master clone. The results aren't any better than your machine screw (and not always as even as your coil) but the rods range in size from 1.5 - 4mm.

when i see people vaping at 350 F it makes me wonder.
We're not trying to confuse you. It's fine if you don't get it. :p
