any ideas on how to actually get the silica through the ekowool?

Was wondering about that when I saw post . Maybe using one of these Sewing_needle_eye_with_thread.jpg

yeah I was thinking maybe a sewing needle.. it would have to be the perfect size.. maybe I'll ask my girlfriend for one next time I setup.
ukeman, I would do that, but I still want to try a build with just the ekowool at the coils, and the inner silica down the channels. Maybe I could cut the ekowool around the silica somehow..

Anyway guys, I just setup my Ithaka with dual coil Ekowool in the channels.. ~.5-.6 ohm and ~80/20 VG/PG
So far so good! But I will update as I continue to vape.. the wick is still priming.

I also cleaned my GGTS nice and good, all the contacts are nice and shiny... mmm feels good after a nice clean. No juice on the bottom oring anymore.

Anyway, I'll update later tonight or tomorrow morning for a better review

Ok, so I've had a little more time with the ekowool... actually a bit disappointed.. getting a lot of dry hits.. I'm hoping the wick still needs to prime, I'm gonna keep it going and see how it goes. Kinda bummed out so far, though!
I did make a lower ohm than usual (.5-.6) so that could also be affecting it (although it should still wick good)

With those of you who have had success with ekowool in the channels, was there a break-in period? I do still taste the ekowool (I don't mind it, it's actually pretty tasy haha) so hopefully it'll all work out soon!

Might be going back to the MrKrinkle method, though!

I will update again after more time.

Sub, THAT is what I get with eko and Krinkle. I don't understand why. My juices are 80/20 vg/pg. Or almost all vg. I haven't tried yet with the new El Kamino or Deadly Sin. But so far fail. Twik worked Krinkle one time.

Yeah I don't get how it works so good for others.. 80/20 isn't THAT thick. Anyway.. It does seem to be wicking a bit better now but I'm not gonna get my hopes up, well see how it goes.

How long did you try vaping it? There is a glimmer of hope for my setup still.. I'm keeping my fingers crossed!

I also screwed the rebuildable part in too tight again so I think the oring is a bit too smooshed and there is a teeny tiny bit of juice on the bottom of the oring again.. I'll see how it holds up sitting overnight..

When hearing about MrKrinkle method some pages ago... came across I think MrKrinkle original post to this method http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/gg/261773-ody-using-nextel-xc-116-without-moding-ceramic.html

The original MrKrinkle seems was done on an Ody with XC-116 Ceramic Wick. As far as juice he says "Keep in mind I only use 100% VG based juice which is very thick results may vary with PG or thin juices..."

Has anyone tried any setup with this type of wick? I ordered some of this wick, unfortunately seems it was shipped to the wrong zip code and now

I haven't used nextel, but I am now seeing a flavor mute with solid 1.5mm ekowool....vapor is crazy nice, but I needed strong-as-fark flavors anyway to even taste them, and they seem to be a bit flaccid.

*yea, I said flaccid lol

@Subver - I don't know if the issue is with the Ithaka but mind you that I used Ekowool in my Penelope and it worked quite well, no dry hits unless the tank went empty. Maybe Ekowool just doesn't work with the structure of Ithaka? Could be that there is less pressure involved within the Ithaka, although I'm not too sure.

Do you use the airflow control that comes with Ithaka? Or do you use the airflow control on the GGTS?

doke, I use the airflow on the GGTS, basic feeding closed on Ithaka.

But anyway, apparently the vaping gods visited me last night because the ekowool is now working great. It started working nicely after I made my last post last night.. I didn't put too much thought into it, but my entire drive into work this morning was vaping like crazy.

The wick taste is gone, and now it's wicking great.. I am still not putting all my eggs in this basket, but I'm happy with it again!

yankeebobo.. wish you could get yours to work! I know boba's is insanely thick, but you also said you used 80/20 which is what I'm using.. very weird.. not sure why it isn't consistent!
