Speaking of authentic 1.2 coils... just had a brand new one dud on me today, right out of the box. Trying to add to my rebuild arsenal (pending feline zombocalypse and all) and plugged it in and primed it properly... flooded like mad and leaked juice EVERYWHERE. Tried everything to remedy it with no success: leaked like 5 ml in 20 minutes. Put another one in and *poof* worked like it should. Weird. First 1.2 coil I've had do that since I started using them something like three months ago. Not using THAT one for a rebuild.

Not sure about the FT 1.2 coils and their authenticity... I tend to order the sure thing locally since the FT 1.5 coils haven't treated me well... to tight of a draw.

I am interested in those tanks, though... they come apart pretty easily and have solid 510 pins with no air hole.
Not necessarily true about ft selling the coils with smaller holes because they are fake, if it says authentic they're are!

I'll give you a perfect example of what I mean, on my 2 gs air tanks they had wider bottom holes but on my gs air m & ms they had smaller holes, I just think that they are buying the normal gs air 1.5 coils from Eleaf. I'm not defending ft at all on the contrary i stopped buying from them because I bought glass tanks that arrived broken because of lousy packaging, later I found out that there is an option to have it box wrapped at an extra price but why should I pay that extra dollar?

For the leaking problem you can buy the o-rings and your problems are solved .. Even on kanger coils I got a dud now and then, if you rebuild your coils the o-ring will warp with time so the replacements are always welcome.

Hoping to hear something today from @LostVapeMonster and @GranFumador.

Let me tell you the biggest problem I was having with rebuilding the 1.2s. I was winding the coil and then then torching it while compressed in needle nose tips. That made the coil pretty short and when I wrapped it with koh gen do wet with pg/vg it was hard to keep the cotton from folding over the ends and reducing air flow. I think if a spaced coil were used, making it longer, it would be easier to wrap.

The TC coils come with even bigger holes in the pin. I rewound one of those and had good success, but that was still with the compressed coil. Also have a look at what they wrap the coil with. It doesn't look like koh gen do. It has more of a felt look. That material could probably be cleaned and reused a couple of times. So what I think would make rebuilding them easier would be a different material to wrap them with. Maybe the Assured pads @Cheechako uses in his rebuilds. My Dollar Tree was out of stock on those so I haven't laid eyes on them to know what they look like. For a better look at what's in there in a stock coil, pop off the top, pull the pin and the insulator and with tweezers gently work all that out the top. You can then unwind the wrap and get a good look at how the coil is built. I hope this helps. I haven't had time to work on getting better at it lately.

The last coil I rebuilt I did a 2 mm dia coil. At least I think I did. It has been a while. ;)

Day 7 1.5 coil I am bummed.it is starting to leak where the tank screws into the mod. Juice still not turning dark. ohm has raised to 1.8. I have bendable adapter on this unit to help protect because leaks like this is what ruined my 50 w. Should I consider this coil a success? I have vape exclusive with this one.

Possibly your coil is not screwed tight into the base allowing a bit of leakage...just a thought.:)

I believe based on burn tests of the liner gauze that it is rayon or rayon-cotton mix.
I'm not a chemist nor did I stay at the Holiday Inn last night, I just ignited some of
the liner material and it burned up like cotton. Very fast!
Having taken apart a TC coil, the material could be cotton, but as you say, it's dense pack in two peices
instead of wrapped around the coil. I haven't performed an autopsy on a 1.2 coil.

MoonLace -- What Cheech said. Any time I have any leaking, I take everything apart and wipe it down or use a q-tip. Take off the drip tip and clean then dry with q-tip, take out the coil wipe down with napkin and re-install nice and tight. Make sure to wipe the fill area inside the tank, and finally wipe off the battery and bending adapter with alcohol. This usually takes care of any leaks.

Pretty much the same material is in the 1.2 coils... really dense cotton pads. That's why I had all kinds of flooding issues with the first batch of 1.2 rebuilds I did. I use koh gen do or whatever good bulk cotton I can find and need to wind that stuff really, really tightly around the new coil... prettymuch to the density of a carto polyfill interior.

We'll that's that. Had to change coil. I am pleased it lasted longer than one day. I'm saving them for if I decide to do a rebuild. Thanks for teaching me new things
Glad to hear you're saving them, rebuilt 1.5's are the bomb!
