Are we still talking about the GS Air coils? Did I land in the wrong thread or something?
I have had plenty of trouble with GS Air coils...thank you very much. Went through a whole week of agony fighting the danged things last week. Leaks, flooding (no..it's not the tank or it'd still be leaking and it isn't). Flavor gone wonky or the draw funky,like things aren't fully connected making it uber airy, even with the AFC almost totally closed.
It's due to having so much trouble with the GS Air coils I got in the past month that I've been so freaked out. Currently I have a good one in my M tank. Only took 2 solid days of constant priming, puffing, babying and resoaking the wick with drops before it settled down and is doing well, the whistling and gurgling seems to have shut up. For now.
I had great luck at first with my first package or two. Now? It's a crap-shoot. And I dread having to change one out and have to baby it, repeatedly prime it, etc. And that's if it works at all or doesn't have a funky taste or bellies up in 12 hours. Sooo...Imma gonna have to learn rebuilding. puh.

I went through the whole summer with major duds! This is why I wised up and quit procrastinating and started recoiling them. It's like night and day. The recoils are just a joy to vape now. Well..one good thing out of all this. I have a whole pile of GS Air coils that have hit the discard box. I'll have plenty to play with!I went through the whole summer with major duds! That's good. Save all of them. They will come in handy! Just don't make the mistake and buy any clones from FT because they're even worse.

So now that I own 4 of these tanks (got three for my Dad) are the stock 1.5 coils that bad? I assumed based on everybody raving about these tanks here that they were reliable. Is that not true?
Honestly, there have been some bad coils out there. No one is able to pin it on any one vendor as far as I know.
They appear to be in the minority.
When the stock coils in the GS Air are good, they are very good! Excellent bang for the buck.
But when they are bad, it hurts the reputation bad...and makes me feel bad a tank I recommend highly, craps on a user.
I know not many regulars here are interested in TC, but I'm pretty impressed so far. I've been running a TC coil since 9/25 on an iStick 40w at 450-ish Fah and the coil is still producing good flavor and vapor. Conservatively 2 ml/day (I run at least 2 different GS tanks and flavors daily), so the coil has so far handled well over 60 mls of ejuice.
Only downside is I still have to store the tank with the TC coil upside down when I go to sleep or it will gurgle in the morning.

That's true, but there has been some bad coils floating around. IMRs had a bad run over the summer of some coils bought
from reputable vendors. A couple of other folks have had this issue...but no one can pin it down as to where they might be
coming from.
Fantastic! Some of the reports coming in on the 40W TC has been it didn't do TC very well...good to hear a success story!
Wonder why they flood so easily?
I haven't had a bad rebuild yet that wasn't caused by carelessness on my part or those small-hole-pins from FT causing a tight draw.
And honestly, I haven't even tried a stock coil in a long time, I like the recoils too much!
I'm sure the failure in the bummer coils is caused by QC failure, mis-wrapped coils, connections being poor and the like won't have any
bearing on a gutted rebuild.

Everything I've heard is that they do rebuild...and wonderfully! Someone I met here on ECF is re-building, coiling if necessary, 15 of the GS air 1.5 coils that I wore out or that I had some trouble with. I have had some very excellent ones. When they are good they hold up amazingly well. I had one that held up for 190ml. of juice being run through it! Most of the ones I got originally lasted very well...about 2 weeks and I vape a lot. Plus the dual coils run a lot more juice than the single coils.
I've seen lots of people talking about how they've used the 1.5s for ages and can count on one hand the duds they've gotten. Then there people like me. I'm the poor chump that if something is going to go wrong, it'll go wrong for me!
