Yeah, things were kind of dead here over the weekend! I haven't been doing much lately just re-wicked an Ego One Mega CLR coil. instead a complete re-build and it is back to vaping like the champ it is! tried to re-build a coil for the Aspire K1 tank as a BVC in Kanthal and totally messed it up, TWICE, so gave up and did a horizontal coil that came out at 2.2Ohm with 30 GA Kanthal, but I thiik I used to much cotton in the wick as it tastes kind of burnt even though I really pre-soaked it very well! The Aspire BVC for the K1 is essentially just like the coils in the GS Air tanks with the double case and the inner one wrapped in a layer of thin Cotton (Felt?). I have to say the one with the little manhole cover are a lot easier to re-build as that outer wrap is a bummer to get right, at least for me!
Is the Ego One Mega CLR coil have the screw top designed for rewicking or recoilng? Interesting design, I like it!
The GS Air manhole cover coils are a nightmare!

I'll remind you of this when you have to pay $100 for a discontinued GS Air.
I have enough tanks for the "Mad Max" scenerio. I'll be at Aunties bartering them. :D

I will sell you all mine for their weight in gold!
You gotta wait for the vapocolypse!

No, I find the manhole to be very easy, Pop the top with whatever metal object just fits in the hole, remove the positive pin and the insulator ring, push out the old guts, make a new horizontal coil, 2mm works for me. slide the legs down in and put a 2mm rod to hold the coil in position through the juice holes, secure the coil with the insulator ring and pos. pin, then pull the new wick through, cut it leaving enough to fluff out and block the holes which are kind of oval in shape, though someone used a cable tie to make an oval coil that fills the holes better, I haven't found it necessary, then you put the rebuilt topless coil in the base and put the manhole on top and with a thick metal washer, or whatever does the job to let you tap it in without just hitting that tiny raised center hole! It's a lot easier than trying to get that ever to be damned outer wrapping to stay in place and not get jammed in the top of the outer case or stick out below it while trying to get that darned outer case seated again!

And even though using the mesh stops you from having to re wrap with gauze every time you rebuild the coil, that stuff is a real pita to work with. It didn't matter if I rolled it up and put it in the cap and then put the coil head in or wrapped the coil head and inserted it in the cap, 95% of the time it moved or folded over in some places. :D

yes, the screw top makes for EASY access
to just pull cotton OR install new wire/cotton...

unlike the old kanger where you had to pry the top hat off
there is also just a bit more room making it easier...

the bottom grommant & pin are also made to replace easier
then bonus, you can use to juice flow ring to adjust coil (wire) height
and during build, you can screw ‘cap’ on to ‘hold’ all in place
I think it a very groovy design…

That is one well designed coil! So easy to rewick or recoil...I like it!

yepper, it sure is - I've grown fond of it :hubba:

it is how I found THIS THREAD

I initially came in here to ASK if it (CLR) would fit in the GS tanks
which in my mind (a very small place) would be an ideal set up...

Too much to hope for. :(

I put a 1 ohm CLR coil in my Ego One tank for the first time last week. It came with a 1 ohm CL that finally died. I had heard that the CLR was much better but I had no idea how much better. The flavor, airflow, wicking and vapor production are all better.

They look very easy to rebuild/rewick too.
