thanks, but didn't help

when i take it off the battery, but keep the tank fully assembled, and blow through the drip tip, I have juice coming out of the airflow hole. Is that normal? shouldn't excess juice come through the tiny hole at the very bottom of the tank (part that touches battery) ?

also, what wattage do you guys typically use with these 1.5ohm coils?

I just cranked the wattage, which appears to have helped, but the vapor is weak, nothing like when i first put the coil in a few days ago. But absolutely no burnt taste whatsoever.

Makes me think the coil is possibly done, yet I've only vaped maybe 6ml's of juice with it.

I have it at 13watts right now.

weird

O.k, now I've dropped the wattage back to under 10, and no gurgling. It's like boosting the wattage fixed the issue. Maybe that cleared out excess juice? But still a weak vape.

I guess maybe i just need to put in a new coil.

I do, or did love this tank though:) I hope it was maybe just not the best coil that came with it, and future coils last longer

IMO the best way to be sure your coils are fine is to make them yourself.

The GS double coil is easily rebuildable as a single and works fine like that. Makes it no concern at all how long a coil lasts.

Bruce in Ocala, Fl

I didn't know you could rebuild these, I'll look into that

The good news: Most of the 1.5 ohms coils last for a week, or two, or more.
The bad news: a few seem to die quickly. Symptoms include oversaturated wicks and liners, thus gurgle gurgle and even spit.

What do I do when this begins?
1- take off drip tip, blow through it onto a tissue.
2- remove tank, blow through it onto a tissue to clear chimney.
3- Remove coil, blow through bottom onto tissue to clear excess juice.
4- reassemble, then vape at higher watts, with tank below mod, to burn off remaining excess juice.
This helps, some, but whatever causes the oversaturation seems to be terminal.
My sweet spot for these coils is around 8.4 watts with clear or light 50/50 juice.

Rather than suffering the frustration, just try a new coil.

Thanks for the tips, appreciate it!

I think you're right, mine was suffering from an oversaturated wick and/or liner. Cranking up the watts after cleaning definitely helped, and it's just made a few loud "pops", which has also helped the vapor production, oddly! It appears to be working back to how it was in the beginning.

I was going to just trash the coil and put in a fresh one, but I thought I'd see if there was an easy explanation 1st.

Thanks guys!

Hope your good efforts get you a week of happy vaping from that coil.

One other thing... When you remove the misbehaving coil, check the tank base - afc for juice, and force a tissue into the base to remove any that might have accumulated there. You mentioned that you are using the M, my favorite among the four versions.
This last step is especially important with the GS-Tank, my second favorite, because the bottom of the tank is sealed, and the juice has no place to go.
Also check the firing pin of your mod and dry it if necessary.

yes I did stuff paper towel down the base, with the coil out. I even washed the base and left it overnight to dry. Tried everything, many times. There was not a spot of juice anywhere where it shouldn't have been, yet it kept gurgling.

It makes me think, as GranFumador said, it was the inside of the coil itself that was flooded, and maybe the higher watts vaporized (and popped) away more juice that was sitting in the coil?

ugh I don't know, but it's all good now!

Coiling music.

No, Cheech hasn't persuaded me yet. But... I found myself across the street from Sally's Beauty Supplies in Brunswick, Maine a few days ago. The name seemed familiar, though I couldn't place it. Went in. Weird. Diabolical devices, unguents, tints, the stuff of incantations and dancing witches. Unfamiliar to an old guy who likes hardware stores and book shops.

Drew myself up to my full girth, and enquired of the young lady with tri-color curls manning managing the till, "Have you any rayon?" The look on her face showed a rotund lack of comprehension. I tried again, "R a y o n (That was me, spelling aloud, in the gentle voice I use when a large dog bares its fangs...), you know, the viscose fiber." Blank look. "They say hairdressers use it to keep stuff from dripping down blouses. Might be a cord, or rope."
The eyeballs were illuminated. She smiled. She led me down many aisles, and pointed at the bottom shelf. "There," she intoned, pointing at little boxes clearly carrying the cotton logo.

"Errr....ummm....those are cotton. I'm looking for rayon, an artificial fiber made of ground up trees..." She cut me off, with disdain, and summoned a manager old enough to be my granddaughter, nearly. She admired my istick 30, with a GS-Tank, and informed me, with that superior air one finds among Ferrari owners, "Mine's eleaf!" I gently removed the silicone sleeve, and showed her the eleaf logo. Her jaw dropped by at least eleven iq points. That ritual out of the way, she asked if I wanted the cellu-cotton for wicks. I affirmed her speculation.
"Wait here!" she ordered. What's a man to do, when lost in a maze of mystifying products, and directed to stay put by a lass with as much metal in her nostrils, lips, and eyebrows as the Tin man had in his entire body? I waited precisely there.

She returned promptly, carrying a large box containing 500 feet of rayon. 500 feet, enough to gift wrap Rhode Island with excess sufficient to give Chris Christie a tummy tuck! "Do you by chance have any smaller boxes? That might last a couple of centuries if I re-wick round the clock."
"Try one of our larger stores," she smiled. "Scarborough's only about an hour from here, and they may have some in little bags."

We grinned politely at one another, and I beat a hasty retreat. Keep encouraging me, Cheech.
It was worth it just to see the flora and fauna that live at Sally's. :D
